Intake Question...What's the Difference?

Pardon this newbie question but what's the biggest difference between the Injen intakes and those cheap ones listed on eBay for like $40?? Obviously the price, but do they work differently to give you better results?

I'd like to get one soon...like this week, so any info would be helpful

Many people will say just get the e-bay intake. Basically your paying the money for looks. From what i have heard they both have a good sound and around the same hp gain. So it is basically on looks. Oh and the injen just brings in cold air. I chose the injen. Damn ups is taking to damn long.(I WANT MY INJEN TODAAAAAYY!!) sorry had to get that out. Have fun making a decision.

I've heard some people who've bought the ebay ones have had to ghetto-rig some mounts, bend them and what not . . .

Also I'd want to make sure the filter itself was of good quality.

Yeah...I had to bend my brackets a little.

My guess is the $195 you spend on Injen will make sure it fits, without alteration. The $25 - 40 you spend on the Ebay intake will require some "modification".

It has a K&N filter and is polished - therefore looks decent. I have this -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2422862222&category=33659 . It looks uglier, doesn't have a K&N...but was cheaper...and seems pretty effective.

That guy has terrible feedback. I almost bought from him until I read it... parts missing, wrong parts...steer clear of that clown.

CAI(Injen, K&N)=cold air intake(cold air? maybe on a cold day.)
SRI= (AEM, eBay, etc)= = short ram intake.(ram air? yeah, hot air from the radiator fan.)

The difference is where the filter is placed.

I just swapped my eBay intake for an Injen, and I think the Injen is actually a little bit louder than the OBX(eBay). Performancewise, they're pretty much the same. IMO, the eBay is a much better deal. If I didn't get such a good deal on the Injen(thanks jrod!), I wouldn't have swapped.
The bracket bending is simple. You take a 90 degree bracket(which was supplied with my OBX, and twist one of the ends a little. That's it.

Oh.. and do be careful with taking the nut off the back of the purge control Valve... .. it's on there horribly tight and several people have had the misfortune of breaking the plastic fittings in the process.

Which one? The one with the 96% positive feedback or the one with the 98%?

Truthfully, the K&N one seems a bit pricy...get the BOMZ one and buy your own K&N filter...

and with injen you get CARB approval. not a big deal if you aint in Cali, but will save you the hassel during a smog check to reinstall the stock box.

The best way is to have one person hold the outside of the housing with channel locks while the other person undoes the nut. Works great.

Good point. When I got mine, I didn't notice any recent negatives (though I am not sure it was either of those two).

I went with the AEM SRI from adventon. Came out to be about $175 shipped which made it slightly cheaper than Injen.

I'm a strong believer in "you get what you pay" especially when it comes to e-bay.
