intake problem

I recently bought an injen cold air intake. Soon after being installed my check engine light turned on. I had diagnostics run on it. One of the o2 sensors is not reading properly. Also I had to turn up the idle to keep the engine from stalling at low rpm. Now it doesn't stall, but still struggles if I go below 1000 rpm. Has this happened to anyone? How can I fix it? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

im not sure what the code was. They said one o2 sensor was reading high and the other was like nothing. At first they thought it wasn't plugged in. I do remember the guy who installed my intake say something about the vacuum hose was bad.

Prob vac leak. This was proven on gramps mp3 (linuxracr). Get new lines save yourself headaches down the road.

How does a vacuum leak cause an O2 sensor high input code? The pcm can tell the difference between a vacuum leak and a faulty o2 sensor....

he doesnt know what the code is exactly. so the first thing is to find out what exactly. if its bank 1 too lean. then his intake has a leak after the maf such as a vacuum line leak or a loose intake clamp.

I'll try tightening everything tomorrow. Hopefully you guys are right and it's an easy fix. Thanks for the input.

Get the code scanned if it appears again and right down the exact code. We don't need the text associated with it, just the code.

I think I found the leak on the coupler that connects to the turbo. I need to get it on a lift to fix it. I hope this fixes the problem. I just put my exhaust on and the light is still on so I hope it fixes the problem. As soon as I get it scanned again I'll post the code.

I tightened all clamps, cleared the code and it came back. I didn't get the exact code, but he said bank 1 rich.

Take a pic of your install with a high resolution camera. It shouldnt be running rich if there is a vac leak- that makes the car run lean (except when in boost, but thats not a high percentage of the time).

Are you sure the MAF is pointing the right way? The screen points towards the filter.

The only way it can run rich is either the MAF isn't set up right, or if the BPV bypass interferes with the maf.

Maybe, did you take off your intercooler up-pipe for the install? A leak post-turbo could cause richness.

Also, if you put the stock stuff back on, does it still do it?

he converted it to short ram. talked to him via PM. i bet the guy put the MAF backwards like the above post. either that or somehow it got damaged.

I fixed the problem. I had a few things contributing to the problem. (1) My blow off valve was open atmosphere so it was ******* up my idle. (2) The guy that installed my intake forgot a clamp. (3) Faulty vacuum hose. Now that I fixed it it runs like a champ. Thanks for the input guys.

Mass air flow

i just recently installed a fujita intake in my mazda 3 2005, we checked everything twice. but my check engine lights keeps coming on and my car runs so bad. its like stalling out. sometimes it gets good air and goes..but not like it should. maybe its the mass air flow sensor. any help would be good thanks.
