Insurance costs for your MP5?

i'm 19, and my parents don't have/will not get insurance so i'm solo
and pay ~$250 mo which is higher than my car payment

oh yeah, it's Geico btw, when i'm 25 all will be better right.:wtf:

I pay $358/6 months for the P5. Not bad. We also have an 02 VW Beetle that I pay $248/6 months.

Kinda weird, how when I had my Nissan Spec-V, and traded it in on the P5 my insurance went up!

farmer's insurance. $711.00/6mo. full coverage w/uninsured motorist and rental car options. discounts: over age 25, alarm, defensive driving, alcohol and drug awareness.

1 or 2 tickets, 2 claims

The 97 escort i had before was $767.00/6mos. with same options and discounts......weird, it went down with new car purchase.

shop around, progressive is very competitive, but they will drop you if you're late with a payment. They dropped me when I paid a day late, sent my payment back with a "thanks, but no thanks" letter.

Now, I just need to get the marriage discount. Ladies? Wanna help me get my insurance down?

Just got notification from State Farm. $998 for 6 mos  . Have 4 pts on my license, though. Plus as soon as can I get my Compustar alarm it should go down a bit

And I thought we had it bad here in Jersey, our state's notorious for insanely high auto insurance rates. But Coqui, that rate's :bs:! There's no way someone with no speeding tickets or prior accidents should be charged that much! A friend of mine pays a similar rate--she's 23, but she's been in 3 accidents in the past three months, plus she has at least 8 points on her record.

Surprising since it is a station wagon...

I just got Geico for about $1500 a year... not too bad...

kolashaker... well, it's very true... the reason is because I am in Philly, and this is the worst place to be for insurance. When I did quotes a few months back, I was getting $6K/year $7K/year quotes! It's very ridiculous... VERY!

This is GEICO... "Your 6 month GEICO Indemnity premium is $2,997.50. "

Another was $8k/year

I received the mail from statefarm...and it says payment due.
Curent installment is 211.35 and policy change is $26.47???

I'm confused, I thought they refused me because of two speeding tickets...and I already paid $345 and my 6 months premium was $1080...
1080-345=$735 and my monthly payments should be somewhere in $130~150, not $240.82.
wtf? they accept me and increased premium or something??

if u just started your policy usually they want 2 months upfront...maybe that's it, or maybe its because the previous month was prorated....???

no one here can complain bout insurance cost

been driving for the past 7 years now, and I pay 140 a month w/ no tickets, accidents, and drive less then 10,000 miles a year.

Bijou,

even though you ARE paying if you were to get in an accident it just sounds as if they might not help you... maybe they'd say, oh whoops, you shouldnt have been covered but our computers messed up- id call an actual person at that company and see.

I would definetly recommend against lying to an insurance company about any tickets or accidents..

The risk of getting caught is so crazy its not worth it:
-The points insurance fraud put on your record stay there for LIFE, and it's 'usually' about the same as having an at fault accident and a couple speeding tickets.. that year..
-Most insurance companies will forever refuse to cover you
-If you do get in an accident, and theres a big claim.. I imagine the chance is high they will look for some excuse to deny your claim.. if they find out.. your policy will be void.. you will owe the entire amount of your claim (could be hundreds of thousands of dollars) and face criminal charges for fraud..
-and lastly, their lawyers are bigger and scarier than anything any normal person could ever afford..

Things like tax evasion, drug trafficing, or theft are much lower risk cash alternatives.. maybe consider taking up robbery as an additional source of income.. it will hurt you less in the long run. :) (this, of course its a joke, I'm not seriously suggesting illegal activities..sheesh)

I called and they told me my premium went up due to ticket...
so $1080 ->$1280...
I'm looking for different insurance company right now

I pay 550.00 a YEAR on my 2003 p5 with bear river, I am married though, they give a big discount for being married.

I don't understand why insuring Protege5 cost so much. I pay $800/year for the 2002 Protege5. I also Pay $900/year for 1999 Porsche 996. I've called Allstate and they told me if I had gotten 2002 Honda Accord it would've been only $400/year. You would think that Protege5 would be as same class as Accord... BTW, I am 33 single with no tickets.
