2003 SPICY MSP
I was wondering how much my insurance would be on a MSP? I live in Texas, so I have full coverage on a 99 Tahoe, 23 no tickets, and I pay like 93/month with State Farm. Do any of you guys have at least an idea of how much my insurance would be, or if State Farm is too high who do you suggest????

it totally depends on where exactly you live, and what your limits of liability are. I, too, am 23 with a perfect record, but full coverage for my 2002 corolla is something like $700/6mo. I live in Austin. If you live in the middle of nowhere, it can be a lot less expensive. I think my limits are something like 50-100-50. I am also married and get a "good student discount", which helped but not as much as I would have liked.

When I looked into getting an MSP in place of my wife's SUV, it came out to around $80 more/6 months. It will be more, but i'm not sure how much, for a male driver. I would estimate you'd be paying maybe $130/mo or so, but that's just a guess.

Call state farm and ask them for a quote. that's what i did when I was interested in a new car.

Full coverage 100/300/100 with $500 deductibles, 23 y/o male no points, no at-fault accidents, discounts for etched windows, defensive driving, and CEVO (certified emergency vehicle operator):

$4500 a year in Woodbridge, NJ with Liberty Mutual.

Wow... wow... wow! That seems crazy high.

I have full coverage with a $500 deductible and pay $840/year. I'm married and over 25 with no points or tickets.

Well I called State Farm and they said like $120/month, but that was on a LX, cause the lady said that was the car based on the VIN#, I'm afraid that when I show them the car its going to be more..........

When I talked to my insurance company, I think they said they treat the cars the same. Something about cars rated by displacement or #of cylinders, so turbo don't matter. I wasn't about to argue with them. I think it was actually cheaper because the MSP comes with more security devices than a normal protege. I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think they can change your plan just like that once they look at your car.

Solution: Don't show them your car. By the way, why should they ever have to look at it?

My insurance company new about the "speed" model, by the way. heh

Thanks guys, that kills the pain a little bit, just made me nervous if it was going to be dramatically higher........ (thumb)

um wt about this......
my old 95 camry V6 XLE
$1000 for Half year(not full coverage)

My MSP
$700 for half year with full coverage

y is that? It was because it based on ur insurance company and discount. A single Smartdrive discount From AAA can reduce 400 dollars to ur policy...YEAH!

HOLY s*** dude. I had 2 accidents last year, (one I was found to be at fault) and my insurance is still much less than that. I know NJ sucks for insurance but that is just plain ridiculus. You gotta get some quotes from other companies.

When I switched to AAA from State Farm it was an amazing difference.

....well maybe not amazing but it was still cheaper.

Edit: I did just turn 25 so that makes a difference.

Damn, I got most of you beat, I'm 25, I own a 03.5 MSP, 05 350Z (as of yesterday) and a Tiburon and pay 420 a month with 500 decuctable. It would be worse but I just got married back in November.

Nah it's the town I live in. If I moved like 10 miles away it would only be around $3000/yr.

Its actually the state that you live in. I would move before I paid that much for insurance. I used to live in Philly were it was almost as much. I pay less than $800 a year in Florida for full coverage.

If you are under 25, have any points or accidents, you are screwed as far as insurance cost.
