Installing Liscence Plate Frame

Hey guys,
I just bought a neon Light Glow liscence plate frame, and I am fairly car illiterate, and I was wondering the best way to install it onto my p5, the guy who sold it to me said to install it to brake lights, otherwise it's much more illegal here (i'm in ontario, anyone know any truth to this?) but since it's a hatchback it's much more complicated than originally thought. So should i install it to the lights over the liscence plate or the brake lights, and could i do it or get some somewhat more car literate person to install it or is it a job for a mechanic? I'm trying to get around the $60 it'll cost me to have it done.
Anyways i'm rambling....
help!
(k) thanx

Haha just cuz u sound like a young teenage gurl i'll answer....
Ummmmm just hook it up to ur liscence plate lights. That should be the easiest way. Plus u wanna keep them on all the time, not just comming on when ur brakes come on right? U should be able to do it urself or if u feel better to let someone do it for u just get one of ur friends to help ya with it and it shouldn't take more than five mins to hook up.
Peace,
Zane

if they are just LED lights you could hook up a regular AA battery to it with a switch so you dont have to run any wires or do anything to your car. also they can be turned off when you dont want any police attention since basically anything that does anything to a liscence plate other than light it up with white lights is illegal in most places.

get someone with some electrical knowledge to look at it and hook it up like that, it shouldnt cost more than $5 to do it that way.

Hi Bombshell,

You can find some photos in Pirana's web site (link below) on how to take off the left plastic panel inside your trunk, so you can run the necessary cables to the trunk light, and that way you can activate your license plate frame at will.

Keep in mind that you'll have to use the Positive cable in the light conections, because the ground signal is interrupted whenever the hatch is closed... so simply connect the ground wire directly to a metal point, and the positive to the positive feed for the trunk light.

I haven't done that kind of thing but it should work just fine...

Personally, I would better run the license plate frame cables to the front of the car, to be able to switch the frame at will, without having to reach the trunk's light switch...
