Installing Corksport S-pipe, any tips/hints?

:
Mazdaspeed Protege 2003.5
As the topic states I am about to receive my Corksport S+J pipe and and preparing for the install. I have heard that I should get replacement turbo studs because they frequently break during install, is that true? If so, where can I get them? I also purchased the Corksport motor mount inserts for the front/rear. The front should be no big deal but I know the rear is going to be a b**** but it has to be done to lessen the thrashing of my engine. Thanks for any tips/hints!

ProtegeGarage carries replacement turbo studs for a good price....and just be sure you put in those motor mount inserts and maybe even kartboy hangers.....you dont want that DP crackalakin on ya :D Ohh yeah, you'll need to remove your turbo to get that S-pipe off.....enjoy (thumb)

Buy some PB Blaster and, Spray it down the night before the install.

Thanks guys, the night before tip is something I wouldn't have thought of. Also, are the turbo studs something that is specific or could I possibly find those at a hardware store? I'm not trying to cheap out but it would be conveinient in case I don't break any so it would be easy for returning.

I just bought new studs/nuts from ACE hardware and they have been working out so far.....

I bought studs from ACE also, but they aren't SS, so get the Protegegarage ones. You will break a stud gettin them out, be sure to stuff the turbo with a clean rag beforedrilling the stud out, you don't want any shavings in the turbine. Also, take the factory exhaust support bracket off (its on the block near the oil drainback tube) because the CS DP will hit it and make reinstall impossible. And clean that damn turbo while it's out! Also make sure that the oil pressure feed line is well seated, mine wasn't and it leaked a lot. Take a Qtip with a bit of vaseline on it to cleand the seat and the threads before attaching the fitting.

When you get a few bloody knuckles and create a few new swear words, just remember that it is one of the best $249 you can spend. Between the RR-Racing UDP and the CS DP, my car pulls heavily all the way to 7000 rpm whereas before it would start dropping off after abour 5400.

Great piece, great service (thanks Travis) and free BBQ coming up on Sept 2nd!

going to try to install the S-pipe in a the next few weeks, I can't find the turbo studs on protegegarage! Would the dealership have it? part #?

ACE hardware on 185th and TVHwy has them, they aren't SS, but they work. No one around here has the SS ones.

I was just about to ask the same thing: What measurements are the studs? Thanks in advance, I'm going to be installing this with a custom 3" exhaust this weekend.
