Installing Chromiums

ok, so I think I am going to go with these since I have a credit on mazda3online.com

I just want to make sure this is something I can install ok, Im not a genius, but Im not a retard. Think I can do it?

Haha I am a retard and I managed. Little tip, I wouldnt use the little foam sticky things, just use some clear glue, or silicone.

I just order my set of Chromiums and i was wondering if you knew if it is possible to link the angel eyes with the fog lights, and have the angel eyes and the fog lights on only

Im not sure, they have the mod to make them independant, you could just wire for that. Im not sure how you would wire the two together.

I wired my dde's to my acc\ignition wire that I ran to a relay for my headunit\amps

hey wetsuit, would the dde's give any reason for the dealer to void out my warranty if something electrical went wrong?

I doubt it. The only thing that I could see them voiding would be the headlight housings themselves. I'll be going to the dealership shortly to get my leather seats, and ill see what they (tustin mazda) has to say about the dde's

does anyone know of a thread that explains how to wire the chromiums to the parking lights. I found one to make them Daytime driving lights, but i don't want to put the added drain on my battery at start up. I'm hoping that it is possible, and also does anyone know how much current these thing are going to use, i don't want to melt any wires if i try wiring these to something other then the ignition.

Get a DMM and check for polarity on the wires that go to the parking light, find + and wire it to + on the ballast....ground the ballast - wire to a good ground, and make sure to mount the ballast somewhere they will stay 100% dry, Im pretty sure water is what killed mine. I read a thread somewhere and people are putting them in bags or siliconing the seams..

These barely pull any amperage, probably less than your dome light pulls...
Mine will be back friday, I might just wire it up to the parking lights, but it looks cool with no lights on other than the dde's, so im at a loss.

hey thanks for the tips. I just wired them directly to the parking light wires and didn't even use the wire harness. I'm debating whether i feel like running it back to the fuse box or not, but for right now they look great. I would like to have them on by themselves though that does look sweet.

has anyone though of using a seperate switch to operate them?

Only downside to that would be you gotta remember to turn them off. What would be rad is if there was a way to wire it to when you lock your doors The DDE's turns off automatically.

actually there is. BC3i (i cant remember) mentioned they were having a GB on the other "site". i checked out and it looks pretty cool. Basically it will wire to your alarm system ( or the stock lock/unlock) and whenever you unlock the car the chromiums light up and then fade until you turn the car on and then they run as DRLs. Also when you lock it, the chromiums light up and then fade out along with the interior dome light. I will def get this once i get my set of chromiums, it sounds like it will be abit expensive though. BMWs have thisproducto available to them for like $10, but since this is a one off product, they are selling it at around $80. And this is very close to cost from what i hear.

Yeah I read that too, I was talkin to the guy who came up with it... I may have to get in on it, I dont know if its 80 bucks cool though. Mine come on and off when I start and turn off my car, it satisfies me.

couldn't you just wire in the remote wire from the harness to the dome light relay or even the lock/unlock remote circuit. That way when you unlock the car the chromiums turn on, then when you start you car, the trigger wire is still wired to the ignition so they would stay on. Then have it wire so that when the relay is closed when you lock the car the chromiums turn off.

Of course you would probably need the wiring diagram for the car to find out where all these wires are run cause i don't think the dome light or the keyfob circuit is under the hood, i have a feeling it is within the fuse box in the car.

when i get mine i want to try to run a wire into the dash next to the dimmer switch so i can just flick them on and off whenever i want. i dunno if thats stupid or not. i have no clue how they wire it.
NINJA can you pm me a basic step by step of the process if you have time?

i think there is a post in the how-to section. Ninja if you want to write up a how to, post it in the How to section for everyone to see.
i will be doing this sometime this spring, so i would also need step by step process.

about your chromium's

Hey Ninja, In that first picture it looked like those were the high kelvin, but an umnitza for mazda they don't offer different kelvin options. is that just the picture you took or are they really that blue?
