Installing an underdrive pulley

I tried to get my underdrive pulley installed but they said since my car was an automatic they couldn't do it because if they put it back on wrong it would flip my transmission so they would need a factory manual to find out how to remove it. has anyone done this with an auto tranny that could help me?

What does an underdrive pulley do? I heard someone say it increases engine response, but doesn't necessarily increase HP. Can someone explain how it does this and define "increase engine response"? Or point me to a website that explains it? Thanks.

it's lets the engine rev up quicker, i barely noticed horsepower

the stock pulley is heavy as hell, the UR pulley is about 5 pounds, very light, so the engine has less rotational mass to deal with, thus better engine response

it is similar to the light weight flywheel. the factory flywheel is 20+ lbs that the engine has to spin; using power. I have a light-weight flywheel installed that weighs 9 lbs which allows more power to be trans to the wheels rather than being used to turn the flywheel.

it causes the engine PRM's to raise and fall much faster then with stock flywheel. you have to change your driving style to match the RPM change.

it's actually 18 lbs, but still 9lbs is a great weight reduction. how much did you pay for yours?

got the CM clutch and fidanza flywheel from rafi for $535 combo back in june

damages water pump?

I thought I read somewhere that it can cause early failure of the water pump. Or am I thinking of something else?

Possibly can lead to long term fatigue of the oil pump in the turboed cars. Won't be a problem for any N/A cars.

You start playing with diameters of pully's and you change speed, which can cause more wear on other parts or not enough speed causing problems with other applications??? just want to make sure you use the right belts.....
