Installed Morimoto Elite HID (non-xenon pkg)

Does the CX-5 need capacitors to run properly without flicker or 1 turning on and the other not turning on? I have a 35W kit from a previous kit and will use new H11 35W bulbs. Thanks in advance!

Mine is a complete kit, installed all in once, no flickering problem. Not sure about if it needs capacitors.
The kits has ballast, heavy duty relay, plug and play harness and H11 bulbs.

So it's the 3Five H11 and not the XB35 H11?

You told me to ask, I asked them. They are just assuming and not knowing which bulb is it (3Five H11 or XB35 H11). This is why I'm asking on this forum where the user actually installed a set of Morimoto HID on it, just wasn't clear did he used 3Five H11 or XB35 H11.

Mine is just a regular H11 bulb, not the XB35 bulb. But I got the complete Morimoto HID Kit from Lightwerkz.com instead of TRS.
I don't think I have experienced any shadow problem. But I do notice there is a pair of spot where light doesn't shine on the road, which I know I had that when I got the car. I just thought it is the way the OEM headlight design is. You can check carefully on my pictures in the previous post to see the light pattern.

Hope this helps.

Doesn't seem like it's affecting our H11 housing then... e.g. of ground wire shadow

Thanks for your fast reply. I asked TRS and they didn't know which kit works best (3Five or XB35)

Bump. I have the XB35 4300 bulbs. I have the same issue as the picture noted above labeled as "9006 HID", the stem shadow on the ground.
The XB have a reversed ground stem, so i'm assuming the issue is the OEM halogen projectors and not the bulb?

I will say it's on the bulb. XB35 was designed specifically for certain vehicles from what I read such as Honda, Nissan, Toyota. So I guess in the end, our cars use the regular 3Five H11 from TRS.

I guess i'll be ordering the regular ones then. The stem shadow on the ground is quite annoying while driving at night.

So I got myself a mori 3Five HID kit, and I think the sent me the wrong bulbs.

I am not able to secure the bulbs into the housing.

It says H11 XB35, on the boxes, but I can't secure it in the housing. Unless there's a trick that I'm missing, I think TRS sent me the wrong bulb.

I would love to upload my stock bulb and the Mori HID bulb, but I don't know how.

It should fit if it's an H11.. Make sure you insert it correctly. The tabs must be correct when inserted. I think there's 3 tabs, 1 of them is the longest and 2 other short one. If it is inserted incorrectly, it usually won't lock or fit.

my stock on the left, and mori on the right.
The base where the bulb screws in look the same, as long as those 2 tabs line up & you can screw in the HID bulbs, it'll fit.

Pretty sure it doesn't. On the left bulb, the circumference of the base is much bigger than the mori bulb. So the 3 tabs don't lock to housing.

Looks like it's wrong bulbs.. smaller for sure.

well i am a bit confused, and maybe TRS was confused as well:

my bulb on the left is the stock H11 bulb

according to TRS, the xenon on the right is an H11 as well

also according to TRS/mori, & runtohell, what i was supposed to have received was a 9006 ?!?!

everyone in this thread who installed HID kits used H11's, except runtohell.

Can someone please help shed some light on this situation ??

It's suppose to be H11. 9006 was a reference photo of "ground/wire shadow". I couldn't find a picture of H11 ground shadow (was a bit lazy, first image was 9006).

You need H11. If what TRS says is H11, then you need to figure out why it doesn't fit which I assume you're inserting it incorrectly, as in not aligning the tabs to the headlight housing. However, from what a previous user with "XB35" H11, there will be ground shadows.

edit: based on your photo looking carefully, the stock bulb on the left is 9005 (HB3) which is your high beam/DRL. The bulb that TRS sent you is the H11 which should fit in the low beam socket.

wow. thanks Run. ill give it a go again in the am. much much appreciated.

ok, so i didnt get around to installing the kit til yesterday, but everything went pretty smooth (i say this after my huge FAIL as documented above). the install guides on the RTS website left nothing out, and were pretty easy to understand.

Like i said before i got the XB35's, and there are no ground shadows.

thanks all for the assistance.

I have an HID Kit that I bought and i'm having a tough time getting my hands in there to install everything and was wondering if anyone knows how to take the whole headlight assembly out to make the install a smoother process for me

The install typically wouldn't require removal of the headlight assembly. For the passenger side, you should be able to move the washer fluid fill tube by unbolting it. As for the drivers' side, you can move the fuse box a bit to get a bit more room.

I've just recently completed the install using the Morimoto H11 kit and there is a ground wire shadow on the 2014 (non-tech). Working with TRS to get XB35 bulbs, which should fix the issue.

Good luck!

I know 35w should be fine but out of curiosity, has anyone tried the 50W ballast from TRS with the XB35 H11 bulb?
I'm assuming the 50w ballast should work since OEM halogen is 55w?
