Injen is awesome

Sorry to start a conversation that has been so much talked about already. But my intake is awesome. I went to Injen the other day to make sure that the intake fits properly onto our cars. The guy at injen did the install in about 45 mins or so. It seemed really simple to do. Anyways. He told me a lot of cool info, like the disconecting the battery is a myth, and the idling for 20 is as well. At first, I was like what???? But he was right. I just started the car and drove off. All I can say about the performance is wow!!! The power it gives and the sound is just Oh so Cool. In all, I would highly recomend this to all people to buy..

Technically the car will still run and all without resetting the ECU, but people only do it as a precaution because its good for the ECU to re-learn after making changes to something like that. Glad you like the intake though.

may be true, but the ECU has a memory with it, if you disconnect the battery, all you are doing is losing the memory in your stereo. which we all know that

Working with electronics a lot, I would disconnect it when making any changes or anything like that. It makes sence to me and its not like somebody made it up a long time ago and is laughing now that everyone is loosing their radio settings.

If the ECU learns it without the Injen intake bringing in more air at lower temperatures and then suddenly its idleing at different numbers it might throw a CEL. Its just better to give it a fresh start to learn everything again.

Ok.. so I've been told by a number of "experts" (including the guy at Ion who seems as knowledgeable as they come) that an intake isn't a good idea on our cars due to the placement or what not. I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about cars... but I will listen for the various experts on this board to comment. I was THIS close to purchasing a similar setup... but had doubts and researched a bit more. If this setup truly is as good as you say it is... I want in!! A) Where do I go, who do I call to place and order? B) How much was it? C) any idea as to how much hp increase you get? -I'm not some schmuck that thinks I'll gain like 10-20 hp off a simple mod like this... but if it's only like 5 or something, to me, it's probably not worth it. welcome back SONNY!

Chico...I don't really care what the "pros" on here say about it. It's the only professional completed piece out there now...how can you trust a vendor that's looking to hock his own wares? :D

Anywho...I have it installed. 10whp minimum is my best guess...the car just feels totally different pulling. That coupled with the great sound and removal of hesitation has made it well worth the 250$ I paid. Check out adventon.com (it think that's it) for the intake...RD6066, not the others...this one is specific to our cars.

I just realized... Newport Beach!! Hell fukin yeah!! I only wish I could say I lived there was well... Just got back from visiting a friend that lives on the pennisula. (27th street) What a place to live!! He's in paradise. ever been to myagis on sunset blvd in hollywood???? if you haven't been... holy $hit man!!! hit it up!!! the women there are first rate. ... lucky bastard!!

Don't just take my word for it...see what other owners have to say. I've seen a great deal of good responses, but some poeple just don't like it; it's either too loud, or didn't do what they expected...You'd have to hear it/feel it for yourself to really decide in the end, but my overall opinion is that it's an excellent product from a company that I currently dislike (due to the way they dicked our GB around!)

nono...you can do the install yourself...when we did GB we were supposed to be the first 20 to get them nationwide...hence the higher price (that also included freight)...until Injen fsk'd us. People were getting them before us, because they lied to our vendor; at least that's what he told us...and I believe him.

does Ion have a CAI setup for sale? or will have?

servoeyes - actually the advice we gave CHICO2003 is based on our own findings on the dyno. Bang for the buck, you'd be better off going with a K&N panel filter + hard-pipe kit.

The gains from a CAI alone for turbo-cars is NIL. Not until you start making over 300whp would a CAI even be remotely required as the flow requirements of the engine haven't exceeded the capabilities of the panel filter/stock box configuration.

Even @ this point, you'd have to either space out your stock fog light, or remove it to get the desired affect.

I think I posted the same thing ION said about, about 2 weeks ago and got flamed for it. So ... for good measure ... I TOLD YOU SO!!

OMG! Your sig man I'm dieing over here...(rofl) :'( (rofl) :'(

Let me clear up what I meant...it wasn't meant to be a pot shot at ION, but here's the way it'll work. You don't need a CAI, but I got the injen because

a) I don't have access to anyone that can bend aircraft aluminum quite as nicely and
b) I wanted the direct run to the turbo and less restrictive filter and
c) No one else has one out, do they? :D

The panel filter still has to go through the bends and take those losses in the stock plastic and it still has the hesitation...plus my car is parked out side, so that damn intake always got clogged. However, as I've said in previous threads, I would have had someone do this set-up for me, but it's just easier to drop 200$ (250$ in my case) for something that's been dyno tested, shown to resolve issues (and yes I feel that it has for me) and meets all of my expectations.

Sorry that was so long, but I just wanted to clear that up. I made an educated (note title under my handle) decision on a good product and it's worked. I'm just passing on my experience with it, didn't mean to step on any toes.

When I get the money/time to go dyno, I'll let you know...there should be a difference because it doesn't feel like a placebo effect...those are minimal, this feels significant.
