Those of you whom are running the Injen CAI converted to a SRI, what did you do with the stock air temp sensor? Did you drill a new hole for the grommet? Or Can you just leave it hanging somewhere?

Thanks ...

i used a spare grommet and pluged it on the side, looks clean and factory again

Yeah I understand that but, I want to take away the tube after the maf (where the hole is for it), and I don't want to drill into the pipeing leading to the turbo.

I left mine hanging.

yea ive heard you can do that, but in some cases the car runs a lil' better if it's actually in the intake charge. I did that, but i threw a CEL saying ''intake temps too hot" or something....then again i live in Texas and it was prolly 2352363* degrees, so that can't help.

Well its 97 Deg here today. Still no problems. Where it hangs is actually about 2" lower than the filter itself.

I think that i'm going to drill a hole in the top of the filter or something I dont know.

I don't have an Injen CAI - I fabbed mine up from some parts I had around the garage - however I just took the grommet out of the stock air box and put it in a hole I drilled in my pipe. I'll post pics later if needed.

technically the CAI would pull colder air into the engine. But i feel like the difference in temperature would be almost negligible when it comes to making power (even more so if you have an upgraded intercooler).

So, CAI = cooler air = more power (maybe a lil') = slight lag once you punch gas.
and SRI = warmer air = a bit less power = faster spool up & no lag in the throttle

ive had both, i like SRI better. and im in texas where it's hot as s***.

K thx, then im going to make my Injen CAI into a SRI lol, i have the HiBoost FMIC so that will cool the air down enough.

I cut a hole in the back of the filter on the lip just big enough to squeeze it in there and crammed it in there...been like that over a year now (dunno)

I would think with a upgraded SMIC or even more so on a large FMIC that the CAI would be just about useless since the air charge is being cooled in the IC I don’t think the outside air to the inside air after it crosses the IC would make a small or even if any difference at all.

i made my injen CAI into a SRI and i like it alot better, i get boost alot quicker and throttle response is better, didnt really think that it would have made that much of a dif. but it really did.

yup! it's amazing right?

i just got my injen cai in yesterday. put it on then converted it to sri. much better as sri, spools up hell-a-fast now!!
