Cool movie! Its japanese and I believe it is based on a Manga character (i am nto sure about this). Either way, it has somereally cool car racing scenes, drifting in a mountain road in Japan.

A friend of mine brought in this DVD to watch on saturday. I had absolutely no expectations for it but i was impressed cause i liked it. They have a GTR, Evo III and Evo IV racing down a really twisty mountain road, and they drift a lot to make their turns, pretty cool. The star of the movie is a AE 86 (Toyota Corolla, or Trueno). Anyone seen it?
 
yep.. Initial D has been around for a while. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it until this point :)
 
the real-life movie made up of mostly actors from the Hong Kong area. With the main character played by the tawianese artist Jay Chow, and his gf is a japanese girl. The movie isn't based on anything. The actors drove most if not all in the racing scenes, which explains their poor lines when taking corners. I wished they used D1 drivers for the racing scenes.

yeah its the first time i heard about it. i thought it was japanese but now that i think about it, they had it dubbed in different chineese dialects.
This movie is fairly new though, isnt it? the case said 2005.
If the drivers did their own driving then it is pretty impressive for someone that to just flat out learn.

yup, although i hate the Initial D forums, it's like a bunch of 5th graders and it's annoying listening to them talk about stupid stuff.

huh cool guys, thansk for the extra info, i am not big into anime or manga so i really have not seen it and i wasnt aware it was around. Maybe i'll have to catch the anime. do you guys have links where i can see them or download them?
 
trust, the anime series is much better than the movie. i watched the movie, the acting was horrible. if you search the photo/video forum, you might be able to find a thread with downloads.

jflo is absolutely right! anime owns the movie in this case. if u saw the anime, u'll find that some of the actors don't match the anime character. Especially the driver of the white RX-7. The one in the movie is a kind with a slanted mouth, the one in the anime is a mature knowledgable racer.

you can also check idforums.net. they probably only have stage 4 though.
To my knowledge stage 4 haven't been licensed yet, so they are still up for downloads. you can also check Torrentspy.

You can download the entire 4+ stages of the anime series thru any big Torrent site. Or you can buy them at www.discountanimedvd.com
Trust me, you do not want to buy the crap ass american versions.
(I say 4+ cause of the Extra Stage movie about the Sil-eighty)
