2006 Mazdaspeed6
Hey guys! My name is Jack and I just picked up a white 2006 mazdaspeed6 but I need some help and would like opinions. First, a little about me. I just turned 20 and so far I've done 2 years in votech auto shop in high school. Moved to cleveland, OH and went to Ohio Technical College for Auto Technology. I finished almost top in my class and passed BMW's entrance test. So now I'm a full time mechanic at BMW in Philadelphia but drive this new Mazda and a Honda lol I'll be going back to school in North Jersey in March for Bimmer training. Now for my dilema...

Bought the Mazdaspeed6 at an Infiniti dealership used July 1. One owner (some lady) and 43,000 miles. Four days later, I get up to North Pennsylvania fine and go to show my buddy how it drives and basically the clutch blew, stranded 3 hours from home. I read the TSB's on it and know my car is a type b. It ended up getting shipped to a mazda dealer in allentown and its still sitting there. Mazda in allentown claims it just needs a clutch (a wear item) and they wont cover it. The infiniti dealership is giving me the runaround and they basically want me to pay $1500 for the clutch to get done after four days of driving it. I drive different stick shift cars everyday, every clutch feels different to me. I didn't feel anything was wrong and it actually feels like something broke inside the trans rather than a clutch and Mazda is too lazy to get more indepth. So now it's july 11 and nothing is getting done. I'm so furious and they didn't even offer me a loaner car so i'm like this is bs! but I haven't given any of those dudes trouble yet. If you guys have any opinions i'm open for it lol Even if you guys just say get a lighter flywheel and nicer clutch and do the s*** yourself but I'm just furious haha

Thanks!
Jack

Buy an aftermarket performance clutch and install it yourself. Sounds like you should have the skills and tools to do it. You will come out way ahead of paying dealer labor rates.

The dealer doesn't have some kind of 30 day warranty for driving off the lot?

Yeah...about that. You have to drop the Sub-Frame on our cars to do the clutch. Being a mechanic, I'd maybe say try it yourself, but being a mechanic not familiar with Mazdas, maybe not. To tell you the honest to goodness truth, get a lawyer involved or at the very least, threaten Infiniti to get a lawyer involved, then follow through if they don't flinch.

I did the same thing with my last car, worked like a charm. Let us know how it goes and keep us posted. Welcome to the Mazda Community (With a bang...literally)
