IM LOOKING FOR A CARBON FIBER HOOD-any suggestions?

I like the weight of carbon fiber hoods, but I have never been fond of the fact that it sticks out on the car. Is it possible to have CF hoods painted to match the rest of the car? So that way you get the weight saving design, with a stock look.

ph0enixrising - If you want to have the hood painted it could be done as well. If you're getting your hood from us, just specify to us that you'll have it painted, such that we won't put that last layer of clearcoat on the top, which makes life much easier for you if you're getting it painted.

However, if you want weight savings, and not the look of CF, we do offer our same hoods in fiberglass as well. They do provide about 20lbs weight savings from the stock hood, and much cheaper then the CF hoods.

ph0enixrising - when all is said and done, a layer of CF the same thickness as fiberglass will be stronger. However that's the reason why the fiberglass hood is heavier as well, it's b/c to make up for the difference in strength per given unit that more fiberglass is used.

Given that the stock hood weighs in at 40lbs, going with a fiberglass hood would give you already a reduction in weight.

You could just paint the CF hood, however the CF hood would be more expensive then a straight fiberglass one that's all.

Anyone have an idea how much the stock hood costs? I want to get the carbon fiber hood covered by insurance, because I think my stock one needs to be replaced. But I can only get it covered if it's cheaper or as much as the stock one. Thanks.
