If noise is a concern you're looking at the wrong car. Major reason I(and most here) picked the MS3 is enjoyment of man to machine connection through (loud) noises.
I would have taken the STI if I had another $10k.
The '10 MS3 is quieter, WRX quieter still. Used S4 avant is another option.

Volvo V70 R, 06 or 07 with a 6 spd. 300Hp, good handling but not as fun as the Speed 3. Other suggestion, save your $$ and buy a weekend fun car which doesn't need to haul people other than you and another passenger.
