If you had more money what would you buy?

I spent some serious seat time in a new M3 with the DCT. I've always been a hard core manual transmission fan, but the DCT is just amazing. In auto mode it's as docile as a 5er but in full manual mode with the power mode engaged and the EDC cranked up it is a beast. I'm addicted.

The 2010 ford taurus sho looks to be promising with the new twin turbo eco boost v6 pushing 375 HP and AWD...

hmmmm interesting question...... a few that come to mind...

porsche gt3
corvette zo6
bmw m3, or new 135i,or m6, or m5

lotsa older stuff i would buy first....

then again. if i had that kinda money to spend on a new car, i would be more interested in what kind of new BOAT i could get. :)

if i had a bunch of money and was in the market for a new vehicle i would get the SVT Raptor. i would wait till winter when the 6.2L 400HP 400TQ motor comes out.

yea man! one of those came to the recon shop at my work because the owner was a buddy of one of the salesman and he wanted his car TST'ed (waste of money). i was checkin that thing out and it was NICE. i don't even like trucks.

i think you're smart not to get the ms3 if you find the noise intolerable. when i got my ms3, i was surprised by how loud it was when i first stepped into the car. then the tremendous power and acceleration made me forget about the noise, and i bought the car on impulse. after a few weeks the noise became an annoyance. but after a year now, i'm somewhat used to it, but it's still a minor annoyance.

so for about a year now, i've been thinking about my next car, and boiled it down to the following:

1. accord coupe v6 MT
2. g37 sedan AT (because i'm not fond of the infiniti MT)
3. bmw 328i sedan MT
4. 2010 mustang GT MT

for these cars, as long as you get the stripper models, they're only 3-6 grand more than the ms3 GT.

is the new mustang more quiet than the ms3? I always thought they had lous exhausts...

during cruising and moderate acceleration, the mustang is more quiet than the ms3. during hard acceleration, you hear the nice v8 growl.

mustang does not have the exhaust drone that we suffer from. also, during hard acceleration the turbo 4 has a rather harsh sound that i don't find pleasing.

Well depends how much money we are talking. My dream car has always been an old lexus sc300 with a 2JZ dropped in there.

I can most likely pay off my 2008.5 MS3 next year, and if my job brings me back to FL it will be hard to pass on a new Camaro SS... mhhhh.

Well, the search is over

hmmm maybe a Volkswagen CC. I think if you want a bigger car than the MS3 while retaining performance, you'll be spending another $10K though.

If you only want to spend a few $K more while retaining the need for speed, I don't think the noise or room issue will be solved.

interested to read what others suggest though

Thanks for the suggestion. For those interested, I ended up buying a CC. It is certainly more refined, a lot less noise, roomier, with nice powerful engine and good looking. This my first VW, I always owned Japanese cars. It cost me 2k more than what I would have paid for the MS3. I still hope that I will own a MS3 sometime in the future.

One thing I noticed during my research, is that people fall in love with all sorts of cars, including a camry. It appears most cars get high ratings from professional reviewers and owners alike, it is really hard to feel guilty about buying any car these days. Fewer and fewer cars come with manual transmission, leaving us with fewer options.

Well, it has been fun visiting the forum for the last two years, I really thought I would get a MS3, I even had my MOD list ready. Oh well, may be later, I have to go now admire my CC luxury features.

Congrats on the new ride. It's nice but the Passat isn't a luxury car...
