I know that i'm new, but there has been one topic i havent seen in the forums or just havent found them. And i know every one attempts this in there miata, stock or mod, But how many miata drifters are out there. Knowing that mx5's are one of the hardest cars to drift, it being so well balanced, i was just wondering what are your specs and what kind of techniques do you use? If i'm not too bold to say, please dont hesitate to call me a noob or a dumb ass. But if you do have some positive feed back PLEASE reply, It will be greatly appreciated.

Get some slick tires on the back, grippy tires up front. When I got my car I attempted to drift it(everyone has thier ricer moments) and had crappy tires all around...was doing a 180 degree drift turn around, the back end gripped and the front end kicked out and steered me right into a curb at 5mph(bent A-arm).

With some crappy tires on the rear and good tires up front I'm sure you could get it sideways all the time.

Before you do anything in the car buy the drift bible and learn as much as you can about your car.

It's an easy car to drift because of it's lack of power and good balance. Cars like the 240 are easy to drift becaue of their extreme anti-squat built into their suspension.

Bascially go get a copy of the drift bible and do what it says.

actually i havent seen the movie yet.

Thing is i can get the tail out and i start to countersteer and i begin my drift, but the thing is i cant seem the hold it. Iono if i'm not gasing it enough or something else. i was at the parking lot for 30 min practicing ( by the way, right when i left i saw 2 cop cars turn in the street where i was just at a near by parking lot). First of all when i go into the turn i do a faint drift to throw the wheels out. Right when i turn into the corner thats when i gas it and i break traction with the wheels. Thing is i cant seem to keep the drift going. if theres any techniques, which are better please help me out. Or maybe its just me and i need more practice.

I already had it in the beginning of last year. I've been driving my mx5 currently for 2 years. I turned 18 last november and my dad finally agreed to let me mod the car since He got a MSM.

Its the lack of power and suspension. The suspension needs to be stiff and there needs to be power to help pull you through. Of course slicker tires will help but the entire car needs to be well balanced.

Have you ever driven a Miata before? It's so easy to power slide in my Miata, I have to drive it much differently than I do my MSP.

I've been looking into the FlyinMiata Site alot and plan on getting the FM II turbo after they have finish upgrading the orginally system. I've also been looking at the Cusco L.S.D - Type RS (2-way). If any one has there own opinion on it, if its the s*** or not. Or if theres any other product that should be considered

The Torsen unit works fine. I can easily swing the back out on wet slick roads, but dry pavement the transition from grip to sliding is so abrupt it's almost dangerous(thus why I hit the curb, doh!).

I don't really try to get the back end out anymore. Car works much better when it corners with traction.

I can verify. This man is a crappy autocrosser. I've seen him drift many times.

Power sliding and drifting are 2 different things. The viper power slides but the 240 drifts. Its a different type of pull through. I haven't been in a miata but I am not sure it is that easy to drift in not just slide your ass around.
