I want to hear from the MAP clamp people

Please, no AP or CPE discussion...I know a MAP clamp isn't the best solution, but that is NOT the question, so let's not start a debate over it.

What I do want to know is, for those of you who use(d) a MAP clamp, did you have any success with it? How much boost did you end up running? What did you clamp the MAP at? What supporting mods did you get (fuel pump internals, plugs, BPV, etc)? Any logs for AFRs?

Thanks!

I used a MBC/Map Clamp for quite a while. It worked great for me. I was running 19psi and had it clamped at 8-10psi (Used my DashHawk to set it, makes it easy).

The only issue is that you're just raising the boost and that's it. You will still be running rich as hell. But other than that, it worked well for me. AFR's were in the 9-10's WOT. I ran FMIC, Test Pipe, MS CAI (SRI Mode), HKS BPV, Plugs and TSB Fuel Pump with it and really had no issues.

Wonderful...thank you for the information! I'd rather run rich than lean, for sure. That's what I was worried about. I am planning on doing this with the upgraded fuel pump internals, RKM bpv, and step colder plugs along with my CPE intake and catless midpipe and downpipe. I'd like to run 19 psi as well, so it's good to hear you had those AFRs with that boost. Thanks again!

Anytime man. I also did a write-up on how to make a homemade Map Clamp. Works like a champ. It's somewhere in the how to's.

I ran my clamp for a long time as well. I only removed it because with my ecu flashed i should no longer need it. I was able to run any boost level i wanted. The only trouble i had was when the weather got cold i would get cut. I would have to turn my MBC down to stockish boost for it to stop. In warm temps it was all good. I clamped at like 2-3 psi. It seems low but it really doesnt matter. It seemed the lower i went the better it worked especially as the temps began to drop. Dont worry about AFR or timing or anything like that. The ecu doesnt use the map sensor for any of that.

Awesome! Yeah, I haven't installed the one I got from you yet...I am waiting to get an upgraded BPV, boost gauge, and the fuel pump internals so i can be somewhat safe
