heh, congrats on the buy, you'll enjoy it thoroughly

mine are already on the wearbars after 20k miles, time for ME to start a 'what tire to buy' thread now lol

they were the RT615's in 245/40/18 (evil)

correction: they are at the wearbars after only 17k of track/daily use... i should be ordering the Falken FK452 as replacements sometime this week :)

well I got my Azenis mounted today and had an alignment done at the same time. I got it done at Belle Tire.

Tires = $556.00
Mounting = $60.00
Alignment = $64.90
Total cost = $680.90

Not too bad considering that I could have easily spent over $800 just on tires, if I had went with Yokohama's or Michelin's.

Well I have just one thing to say about these Azenis......AWESOME!!!!!

I got a chance to put the to some small tests today and they passed with flying colors.

They respond very quickly to driver input and they hold the road FAR BETTER than my Pirelli's. The Pirelli's are good all season tires but if you are looking to get an affordable set of summer tires these Falken Azenis are probably gonna be hard to beat, for the performance and price.

Tell me how they feel in the rain. Problem with the previous Azenis' was their wet traction was non-existant, but supposeduly that new tread pattern has given them better water evacuation.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow night....if it does I'll take a drive and give you all an update.

The Weather man Lied.....in a good way for once. It bearly sprinkled enough to get the car wet, so the roads stayed dry.

From the look of the 10-day forcast it is supposed to rain cats and dogs tomorrow, and SNOW :eek: a couple of days after that so I might get to report on their snow and ice traction also.(I not looking forward to that(notcool))

Yeah it's supposed to snow in a couple days here too. I'm going to wait it out and swap to snow tires last minute if necessary. I'm hoping they're wrong like usual.

I just bought a set of 215/40/17 Azenis ST-115's. They're not quite as sticky as the other azenis in this thread, but are supposed to be ultra quiet, great in dry and wet, and sticky enough for recreational auto-x and zoom zoom driving.

I have two new tires mounted on new wheels and I'm picking up the other 2 this wednesday, so I'll be able to give some feedback about them.

Well it rained pertty good all day so when I got off of work I was looking forward to the "Test" drive home. Here are the results:

In a straight line the Falkens spin a little easier than Pirellis did, but not much.

Cornerning was a little different though, it was noticeably easier to induce oversteer and get the back end out. Was it dangerous? NO. Was it fun? You bet :D

Stopping was just about as good as my Pirellis, if you stand on the brake the anti-lock kicks in but that happened with my Pirellis and Potenzas. If you stop hard no slide or hydroplane at all, just good stoping.

I never got it above 65mph but I never felt like I didn't have complete control. I even tried some quick manuvering(50+ MPH) and the car responded really nice with no sliding at all. There was a small amount of standing water in some places(<=1/4").

Overall I call the Falken Azenis RT-615 a super street tire in the dry and an above average tire in the rain, on an AWD car. If these were on a RWD it might be a totally different story.

jdub thanks for the review of the RT-615s.. I'm still considering them, though I probably won't need new tires until the end of this year's autocross season. I was worried about the wet traction since I do just run a single set of summer wheels/tires.. don't really feel like dropping the cash on dedicated autocross tires for my stock wheels, and if I was I'd just get racing slicks anyway :P
