I think I broke a rod...

That's right. With a Wankel, when you get detonation, you know it right away when the apex seals blow :) They're not terribly forgiving...

(lol)

This reminds me of the funniest thing I ever read in Sport Compact Car.
"The Mazda RX-7 is hands down the best japanese sports car ever built,..... then it blows up!"

To your credit Linux you have to be the calmest person I know to exist. If it was me I would have flipped out and taken a sledge hammer to the hood of the car by now.

Whats the block going to run you?

Not sure yet. I stay calm because it behooves me to do so. The Lord has my back, so what good is worrying?

Not so much worrying as flipping out. Hell I couln't get my ECU cover back on the other day and I flipped out and broke the glove box. Just my non existant anger control I guess.

Linux,

I talked with Chris this morning (Thorage327 on the 7 forum) and no go on the block he's got.. It's a 1.8 block from a 99, not a 2L block..

Grrr.... There's gotta be one in a yard aroudn here with only a few miles on it, doctcha think? Also, I know the guys from Gotham racing have a great connection to get Mazda factory rotary engines, so be sure to talk to them about seeing about a FS-DE before you go scrounging aroudn somewhere else...

The engine was used in the 626 and MX6, so there should be a bunch of them in junkyards. Check with Mazda Toyota Recycle (502-667-6818) and Mazda Recycle (916-635-5900).

Is the MX6/626 2.0 block the same as the MP3/P5? I know The Man said the MazdaSpeed oil cooler would not work on the MX6 block because it does not have coolant galley plugs at the oil filter mounting point. Just wonderig if there are other differences.

The FS engine was used in those cars. I don't know all the details of the block trivia, but if we can put a FWD Kia engine in a RWD Miata, it's possible :)

You could still plumb the oil cooler in to other coolant sources. Just be prepared to run your own water lines.
