Can you guys PLEASE post some pics of your lowered MS3's and please tell me what you bought to lower your car. I am looking to lower my car around an inch and make it a corner carver but I don't want any ruptured kidneys in the process. Just be able to take a stiff corner at 120-140 KMH is all I want!! Please help

Maybe go to Protege Garage.

I talked at length about this very topic with Ken, the owner, last night. He said the COBB springs give about a 1" drop, but they are nothing special. I've heard that people are happy with the eibachs, but you may want to consider upgrading the dampers as well. As far as I know, the factory dampers are a poor excuse for sports suspension and will wear out over time with upgraded springs. Maybe Koni Yellows or FSD's combined with the Eibach springs would do the trick.

And about the picture request, here's one dropped on Roadmagnets...

its a member's car on this forum actually, I believe his name is JayBird.

Another option for better cornering is upgrading the sway bars.

although this doesn't address the lowering, it would help greatly for reduced body roll.

Hope this helps!

Here are two on Eibachs. We both also have Cobb RSB's. They are a nice combination so far. I know sooner or later the dampers will have to be upgraded but am not real pleased with the selection out there to date yet. Nothing really goes well with any of the springs out so far.

Generally speaking, lowering a car to improve handling is overrated. You mess up the suspension geometry and reduce suspension travel. You are better off with the stock springs, a proper set of swaybars and upgraded dampers.
I chose Cobbs because I wanted to increase the spring stiffness with minimal drop. When (if) I ever scrape together the money for dampers, I am going back to the original springs. The ride is too harsh and even the slight drop from the Cobbs causes the front end to scrape too easily. I liked them at first, but having lived with them for a year and a half, I can honestly say that I should have saved the money.

Which dampers are you gonna go with? I'm in the minority of not minding the stock ride height and ride. Any stiffer/harsher, I'd be back in the same predicament as I was in prior to moving to the MS3. My Subie had KYB AGXs and a set of Eibachs and it rode pretty harsh.

When the stock dampers go out (which from what I've read is sooner than later on the MS3), I'd like something that will retain the stock ride.

lol u think the ride with just springs is harsh?! wow man, u must be used to SUV's or something
the lower the car, the lower the center of gravity, which means better handling
and if you scrape alot, i think you just need to know how to drive a lowered car (no offense)
my car has about a foot of clearance in the front (not 12 inches, like your actual foot, maybe 4") and i rarely ever scrape anywhere
its all about the angle lol

I've read good things about the stock springs and Koni FSDs. There are almost certainly adjustable dampers that would yield better handling out there, but for daily driving with a reasonable amount of comfort, these seem to be a very good choice. Note that they are not recommended for use on lowered cars. I'm blanking on the name right now, but the new vendor with the amazing turbo kit sells them for a really nice price.

Not always. If you lower it enough to screw up the geometry, you end up with a car that pulls great skidpad numbers but can`t change direction worth a damn. The car doesn't respond to steering input as designed.

Really? Thank you, Captain Obvious. Some areas have roads and driveway designs that just aren't kind to lowered cars. I live in one. Steep driveways with high transitions to control runoff. Not a good combination.

Yeah really, I'm not even lowered and I still scrape going down steep driveways or what not even when using the almighty "Angles". Not much you can do about it.

well dont know what to tell you guys, ive scraped twice since ive had the car slammed
one was because i couldnt take an angle and i dont even remember the other one,
its all about how u drive, if u look in the slammed thread there are people like an inch off the ground with no scrape marks

Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into them when my stock shocks go out. Is RaceRoots the vendor?

Just missed a GB on the other forums for the FSDs for $525 shipped. Supposedly that was a great deal considering the lowest price anyone else had seen was over $600 - $700. Maybe there will be another one by the time I need some :)

Thanks for the pictures and info guys!!! I really appreciate it.. I'm thinking I might go with a coilover setup with some sways..Probably go with Tein and Cobb. Not too sure yet

r ur fenders rolled? my car with BCs maxed either rubs over bumps or around turns, esp when i have other people in the car.

anyway here are some quick recent iphone shots with winter wheels
