 I need Brake Pads for my car quick before I get into the rotors. I cant find them because no one has an mp3 listed. So I went and asked for just a 2001 Protege brake set, and all proteges up to 2001 has drum brakes in the rear. So I saked for the 2002 P5 brakes but they dont think they will work.
If I goto the dealer it is going to cost 135 for front, and 125 for rear :wtf: Help me out guys you all always do a good job helping! Thanks!!:)

Any third gen Protege ES has four wheel discs, same with the Protege 5...Both of which use the exact same brake pads front and rear.

The MP3 is the same as an ES or 5 when it comes to brakes.

Whomever told they won't work doesn't know what they are talking about.

Just a quick history lesson, every top of the line Protege as far as trim goes has had four wheel disc brakes, from all the way back in 1990 to present. Not necessarily the same size or what not, but that is one reason why the Protege has had a slight performance advantage in the econo-box market since day one....

Actually, the 99-00 Protege ES had rear drum brakes. This is why I bought a '01 ES, because they started putting discs in the back again.

I am getting the pads direct from Mazda because I called Pep Boys, Auto Zone,Auto Advance Gipe Auto......blab blab blab......Lets just say 3 hours worth. No one even has any brakes for the car. I called Mazda Corp. and they told me that these were special brake pads made for our car. Now I know that I can get some from srperformance.com and a couple other places but it will take ten business days. This is the only car I have so I need them now. I will have brakes in my hands tuesday morning.
Antoher thing I thought was good but bad on the pocket is that all brakes worn evenly all the way across so I have to replace front and back. We do have the same pads as the Mazdaspeed but since that car is really not out on the market completely that will not help me today.
