I would not overlook pioneer. They are equal to alpine in many ways and surpass them in others.

Now that I think about it
I really does just make plain sense to put most of it into my ICE. I'll save a bit and by my son some dvds and my wife a little MP3 player.
It's stupid to give up >10% value if i'm just going to end up spending that much at best buy down the road

not going to say poineer is a bad choice, but the alpine has a much cleaner look after installed.

I work at bestbuy and love working on audio. Here's the 2 head units I would recommand if ur getting it from best buy. And ur the first person to prove to me that the $500 survey actually works! I never though it would work...

I have the pioneer in my car and I love it.

THe only thing I would argue is that those decks may have more features then you need or will ever use over some of the less expensive ones.

You can get a great deck form either company for around $250 and then buy a 4 channel amp and even a sub with the left over.

Just as a heads up for everyone, best buy has most alpine gear at near 10% less then Tweeter or crutchfield.
