I beat a Celica GT...

2001 Celica GT with CAI, custom exhaust(strait pipe i believe), and header. Got him off the line then stayed about half a cars length in front of him the entire time. We stopped off and chatted. He actually goes to my school. He said we should do it again. I just feel happy that I beat him and have some bragging rights now

So i believe that those mods that are on the Celica GT he's probably running 150 to 155hp and you beat him with your MHP cai. (GOOD KILL MAN) one for the home team......!!!!!!!

I'm actually gone see if he'll let me take pics of his car and such. He's also got a huge wing and body kit on the car. Car is silver. It looks nice.

yeha there was a thread....mp3-vs-celicaGT..My gyrl got a 2001 GT wit the action body kit on it...The car is definately HOT!!..I Love that car..I still wouldnt buy the car since it is still a GYRL CAR...an automatic will also make it a b**** CAR...IMPO...my man who got a TYPE-R 2000..ran them togeather...MP3 and GT...WE WON!!!..but they definalty have more potential..as of today...p.s i also got smoked by a GT-S on the hwy...i was just testin my car to the fullest...

I beat a silver celica gt too lol!!Must be all that metal flake in the paint weighing it down cause I though they were supposed to be fast lol!!Ive also ate Neon r/t's,Honda civics,honda prelude's yes VTEC,and my fave fullsize dodge rams mmm mmm good hehe

I'm skeptical about all these Celica GT kills. From my driving experience and G-Tech tinkering, the Celica runs low 8 seconds 0-60mph. The two MP3s I've driven (co-workers own them) couldn't get under 9 seconds.

You guys must've been racing automatic Celicas...

YEAH I DID RACE A CELICA GT...IT ALSO WAS AN AUTOMATIC..IN MY OPINION THE GT, when it hits the VVT-i...i think it is out pretty much on our cars...BUT i think if u are gonna get that car...it has to be stick...if i raced a stick it would be out on me just because i would hope the person who was driving it would keep in tha VVT-i..but hey it also then relates to driver error..

uh.. beating a prelude vtec would be impossible unless the guy wasn't racing, I mean seriously, I borrowed a co-workers 99 Prelude SH, no mods, on 2 occassions.. if that car is wrung out (the one I drove is 5spd), it is rediculous.. unless the guy was shifting at 7500rpm every shift he wasn't racing, and you would know if he was racing. I raced a jetta vr6 and a fairly souped up cavalier z24 from around town while borrowing the car, and I was ahead by a number of car lengths each time, 3rd gear at redline.. in full race mode.. with a serious race going on

I hope you're joking. VTEC Prelude would walk away from you in any gear. They weigh about the same as the MP3, have about as much torque, and keeps that torque all the way to 8000 rpm. My momma's Accord would walk away from an MP3.

Gotta agree with ya there. The Prelude would laugh at the MP3. I used to own one, 97 5spd.....I miss that car. The Auto's are s*** slow though.

My father also has a V6-accord coupe. Ground effects, spoiler, leather....everything. Gorgeous car. Don't handle too bad, but is a bit heavey. He can blow my doors off on a straight anyday. Corner however.....different story.

I'm glad some of you guys are honest. The MP3 is not a straight line performer. It is alright but not prelude killer. Just be realistic. The MP3 is AMAZING on the autocross course. Why don't you guys go race one autocross and see what I mean. Then you can say you beat WRXs and stuff and it will be true.

About the Celica GT 5-Spd manual tranny it does not run low 8's i can't remember if C&D or R&T tested the Celica GT 5-Spd tranny but they ran 0-60 in mid to high 8's as i mentioned in the CelicaGT vs MP3 topic long time ago. Bryan owns a 2001 CelicaGT 5-spd tranny with Injen cai and Eric owns a 00Civic Ex with a intake i don't know which brand but also a magnaflow exhaust with dtm. we all ran em from stoplight to stoplight i was in the 94 protege with my girl, her two friends and a coulpe of bowling balls in the trunk. and the celicaGT didn't even stand a chance as Eric and i both hit the light i told him let bryan have a head start so not even a second later he rolls up and looks, so i look at bryan and smile at him as he smiles back we both waited till bryan took off then there went eric then i went all of the sudden bryan couldn't take it as me and eric already started to catch him by half a car lengh so he slammed his brakes as me and eric kept on going to about 90-95mph i got him by 3 1/2 car lenghs but still me and eric laughed at him as later on we went back to mooney's to see if it was still poppin but it kind of died out alittle bit. So we all just kicked it at the pool hall and relaxed. I mentioned to bryan if he had a governer on his celica, he said that he didn't know what the heck that was so i didn't wanna even break it down. So i asked him doesn't your vvtl-i kick in or what he said no only on GT-S celica's. So i wondered why it didn't move that quick at all. But still Eric couldn't stop rolling cause he never thought his civic could beat a celica and we all never raced side by side like that before.
