I am not waiting!!!!!

On the Cougar I rode on Stock 215/45/17 (Might be 225, cant remember) as well as stock rims. The only difference is the tire, which you are correct, you should not use in the snow.. so whats the diff.. you buy snow tires now or in a few months.. Besides if you had gotten the MSP a month ago you would still have to be buying the tires about now.

Snow tires/wheels are a definite must have.

I agree completely. We don't want to start seeing those new msp's getting all smashed up, or someone getting hurt. It's just plain dumb to try to drive with them on the car.

I agree

My lease expires in December and frankly I am disgusted at the way Mazda is handling this. I recommended Mazda to 3 other people and now they all own Mazdas. Now it's my turn and since they have told me nothing on the status oof this car I am about to tell them to just forget it too.
When I called my dealer last week he said that same day he had a Mazdaspeed rep in his dealership and he was being tight lipped to him. Great, that's just what I want to hear. Not only that, I haven't even been told what the dealership is going to charge for it (you can bet I won't pay more than msrp).
We are consumers and Mazda should not be rewarded for bad customer service. I am just about to tell them to forget it and take my business where it is deserved.

You are all forgeting one key thing here.. Working in the Auto industry I know how it goes.

The port shutdown effected this launch (we all know this already). There is seriously months worth of backlog at the ports to get stuff out, first was perishables, then other stuff. Now say your boat is XYZ and its in container 100 of 10,000 on that boat. Boat XYZ is 5th in line when the port re-opens meaning yu have 5 other full vessels in front of you plus what is already offloaded and sitting there..

Long story short, they can't (or haven't been able) to give a date because they simply don't know. As for this most recent date of Nov 15th. I can say that they will begin showing up at dealers around that time.. Now will all of the dealers get them? I dont know, will they be Orange or Black, I dont know.. You have to realize how big of an issue this was for ALL of the auto companies.. One of the big 3 alone spent 15 million in premium freight to keep production goin last month alone. So Mazda can't compete with what was being paid so they got thrown on the "if we have time list" and hopefully we will see them soon.

Cliff Notes:
Port slowdown caused unknown delays, all the dates we heard in the past were dealer misconceptions hoping to get a deposit. They will begin arriving around Nov 15th. Mazda couldn't prevent these issues and did the best they could (they could have said we dont know when we will have it).

Bull....the ports had nothing to do with it. It was a pipe that could have been shipped by other means. These cars were done weeks ago, but mazda opted to change that part. That part came from Calloway. Not mazda. The port issue is a rumor. End of story, no car, no business.....I pick up my RS this afternoon!

the thing i think mazda is failing to realize is that people would be happy with just a DATE. thats all we need, is a solid, secure DAY. at least that would make me happy, and thats all i need. if they said, you know what, you can go to ur dealer November 29th and pick up a MSP, i wouldnt care, as long as the date stuck.

ALL WE NEED IS A DATE DAMNIT...

*starts to look at used car classifieds*

Think what you want to think Prophet.. If you think you can just go back to the supplier fill the pipeline again and then airfreight the parts to the US at minimal cost while the other pieces are just sitting on the boat you are sadly mistaken.

Too bad your not getting the MSP because you will be saying.. I should have waited.

what do you mean airfreight the parts to the US? Callaway is based in the US.

i think there are too many goddamn rumors floating around and i want mazda to put an end to them but thye are gay.

Thanks Dexter. My point has been realized and been made. The part was manufactured by Callaway Cars of Mass. Unless they are ignorant in business why would they ship it frieght to over seas just to have it returned and be held up at the docks. Sory for the sarchasm..... Good day to all....

And you know for a fact that that part is produced by Calloway in-house? If so then there is no reason for delay.. However, if it is produced by a Tier II somewhere in God's country (or overseas, which is possible), you cannot just go to a supplier (unless they only deal with you and are currently very slow) and say I need these 1,700 hoses now.. You have requirements to other companies that would take precedence over an order for 1,700 parts. Maybe it was an engineering fault where the part has to be re-tested.. maybe, maybe, maybe..

Did Mazda handle the situation the best it could? Probably not..
Did Mazda know the timeframe for completeion? Probably not..
Does this happen with most launches? Yes..

Unless you know the intricacies of the Auto industry, and the amount of complexity in the systems, you will not know how hard it is to predict a dealer delivery of a new vehicle, espically one as involved as this.

MI MSP: Absolutely true. I understand this because of my consulting experience, however most consumers can't appreciate this.

Mazda definitely could have communicated better. However, controlling expectations is difficult to start with (especially with sales people trying to generate the interest/business), but the hiccups (albeit normal) along the way have made it worse.

It would be nice if Mazda gave away something as a goodwill gesture. Hope someone from MNAO is reading this!!

waiting

One point. I have been pondering purchasing a few cars, not just the MSP. I put a deposit down on an Acura RSX. It was due to arrive on November 9th. I put the deposit down on it the same time as I did on the MSP. the port thing delayed it by 3 days and it will be here on the 11th. Also, the whole time the dealer has been calling me (communicating with me---MAZDA!!!) to let me know when exactly it will arrive. This is how companies should handle delays.

I can completely understand, heck, I've pretty much have given up as well, but with it being so close, what the hell, I've waited this long, why not another 2 weeks. Everything that I've seen and heard from here and other sources say the 15th is the date. I'm expecting my actual date to be even later due to the actual shipping distance.

But look, your looking at an RS. Not a bad car, but they are a dime a dozen. There will always be an RS for sale somewhere. Wait a couple of weeks, you won't be sorry. If that car handles anything like the mp3, it'll be amazing. I wouldn't take a RS over an MP3, yet alone a MSP. I don't know if you've ever driven an MP3 before, but NOTHING compares to it for handling. It really does spoil you. I have driven other nice cars since, bmw's, vette etc...and I'm sorry, but the mp3 is just amazing, and the msp should be at least as good.

RS over an MSP....your nuts. Not even in the same league. You didn't wait this long to give up this close did ya?

I wholeheartedly agree.
