hydrolock and a cold air intake

I totally agree!

Then my friend you just got super lucky, I can assure you first hand that a CAI and florida dont mix!

My suggestion is to get the CAI save it for track days, in the mean time get a SRI if you want the additional noise. A turbo car really does not need it but if you gotta have one just go with the SRI

WTF are you talking about. Did you not read my post. And measily 1 to 2hp difference with a CAI. If that was the case then are so many people buying them to get that extra kick. YOu and boosted don't have a clue.

Knowledge is absolutely correct. The CAIs are giving anywhere from 15-25 more HP... not 1-2. Notice my sig below... I am all stock except for the CAI.

I think he means that the difference between a CAI and a SRI is a measly 1 to 2 hp. Not that the CAI only gives you that compared to stock. I thas been proven that CAI's and SRI's have more or less the same gain.

i ve had it happen to me but it was on a prelude but with i think 16 inches of water, i had to go through it was a freeway exit and cars were coming fast from behind so ended up hydrolocking the car. but the water was pretty deep.

usual rain and puddles were ok.

just anythind deeper than 12 inches i probably wouldnt go through again

The MS CAI has an extra splash guard on it to help prevent injestion from splashing water. If you are still concerned, get an Injen Hydroshield to put over the filter.

If you plan to park or drive through 10"+ of water then maybe there is a CAI "snorkel" kit out there like on the hummer... :)

Where do you get the MS CAI or MS SRI? I have an 03.5 MSP and I am trying to stay all Mazda on permormance parts. Also how much does it cost (ballpark)

I think that with the weather that I have around me, the smart thing to do is go SRI. Is anyone familiar with WR Secret Weapon intake systems, it looks like a mix between an SRI and a CAI. are they any good? my choice is between that and AEM. any suggestions or information would be appreciated.

I would have loved to go injen but they dont make an SRI for my MSP

I live in Hawaii, and have heard a few stories.. dunno whether they are true or not, but seeing as how it rains a s*** load here (especially by my house), and our roads suck for drainage (well, just suck, period), i'd have to stay on the safe(r) and go with a SRI.

This is the problem, I have a MS3 and mazdaspeed only makes the CAI. I would prefer the SRI, but dont want to have to deal with the warrenty headache. Despite the fact that I am in SoCal where doesn't rain very often, if it does cause a problem, I am blaming mazdaspeed.

The Mazdaspeed CAI is in 2 sections. If you want an SRI you could probably just put the filter at the end of the first section and leave the lower half off. I've heard of others doing this but dont know if it causes CELs or anything...

it shouldnt. everything mounts and or is located in the first section. good idea definetly

I just found out about WR Secret Weapon intake system. It has all of the benefits of a CAI but without the dangers, it is set up like an SRI but has dual air tubes and the vortex funnel. Check it out, this is what I am going with because we have rain all of the time and the back roads around my house flood all the time and then the snow in the winter sucks because they take forever to plow the roads. I am getting it from this site, it also has reviews from people who bought it, you can also hear it by putting WR Secret Weapon in the search on youtube, so check it out:
