Day 10 of my Broken Bolt Nightmare reveals that my crank sensor is either damaged or broken.
Now I just have to figure out where/what this damn sensor is, and fix/replace it.

Gimme a call if you need assistance, Natey. I should be free on Sunday. Make sure you can get a copy of the shop manual, if possible. I just downloaded the Miata parts manual on .pdf from Mazda MotorSports.

And, if it all comes down to it, you can just use my MMS discount on parts.

If a certain break-in procedure makes more power and its proven by dynos, all i have to say is even dynos done in the same hour with no modifications can vary by a few HP. One i talked to automotive engineer laughed when asked about break-in and said, driving it easy is to protect the driver who's not used to the car, not to protect the engine. When i took a tour of the NUMMI plant where they assemble Toyotas and GMs, every car is put on a dyno before leaving the assembly line, so some guy's probably already redlined your car even if you bought it with 0.0 miles at the dealership. And there are three piston rings to a cylinder, two are compression rings and the bottom third is a oil control ring, which is the one that scrapes the oil. Blow-by gases will always be there to contaminate the oil, which is one reason we are supposed to make frequent oil changes. Also, the honed surface of the cylinder wall is not primarly to file piston rings, their main purpose is to create a surface for oil to cling onto so your pistons don't weld themselves to the cylinder wall from all the friction. Also, bikes are faster than cars and are balanced for high rpms, so won't be pushed as hard and can take being revved. Just look at why NA Proteges have more problems than MSPs. I have to redline the crap out of mine at autocross (i went to 8000 rpm once, dealer told me later the DX model doesn't have a rev-limiter)...but the turbo protege's don't need to push so hard before exceeding the limits of their tires...so you don't have to push a bike hard before most people get nervous and let off a little...there are also less modifications for bikes than there are cars....and the more you modify, the more problems you get (right Nate?)...anyway, my input is, the guy gives some information that i want to disagree with, but at the same time, he may be right and some of what he says makes sense....i myself drove my car hard even before i owned it (peeled off a nice layer RE92 on my test drive with the dealer), i mean it already had some test drive miles on it before me...i drove hard and my car is still running, whether it is faster and more reliable than a broken-in car, who knows

Doesn't most of people don't have mod parts during break-in period anyway? So I wouldn't think mod would be a factor in terms of problem for the engine.

IT was awsome while it lasted when i was out there. Had a lot of fun, now im back on the east coast. Took me 2days todrive home. Averaged 110 throughout Nevada-Nebraska. not bad, not a damn person besides a few truckers on the road and averaged 85mph from Nebraska-Maryland. Kool stuff.

Id advise all of you to take an opportunity to meet nate and go on a Fun Run. Him and Ya have the best places to drive and ride along with them, its even better. Thanks for everything guys, ill hopefully fly out when theres another MazdaMeet and/or race at legunaseca or infineon.

I've seen too many wrecked bikes/lives on Hwy9 for me to ride one, but if that's your trip, more power to you(literally).
