HS - muffler required?

Not sure if I was looking at the most up-to-date rules but I did not see mention of removal of any exhaust part being legal. Anyone know if I can just unbolt the rear muffler section? I imagine with the tiny stock exhaust and both cats in place it probably wouldn't even be too loud.

Anything behind the last cat is legal provided it exits behind the driver

Thanks. I was about to pull it off today and noticed removal of the axleback would route the exhaust straight up towards the underside of the car....probably not the best idea. I'll just leave it alone until I'm ready to do the whole thing.
