I aint even mad!
Ive been trying to ask a car fan around but no answer,

whats the difference between a "long block", a "short block", a "big block" ??

long block: block/head(s)/crank/pistons/valves. Made to swap your external stuff (intake, pan, etc) right onto it and make an easy swap.

short block: block, pistons, crank. A good way to look at a shortblock is "Everything above the oilpan, but below the headgaskets".

Big block vs small block: look at the 351-windsor vs the 351-cleveland. They both host 351 cubic inches, but the cleveland was a big block engine with a smaller bore in comparison to the windsor. BBC (Big Block Chevy) engines are where we get the 454 and 502's from. Whereas some popular SBC (small block chevy) engines were the 305, 350 (world's most known engine).

Hope this helps somewhat. I'm barely awake and thought I'd chime in.
