How To: Retrofit HID projectors into P5 headlights

i'm not seeing how the projector housing comes out the back side of the headlight... maybe i have to just take the main reflector out to see what's going on back there

The "/" in the cutoff, do those need to be centered or anything? Or what is their purpose

The "/" (cutoff step) needs to be directly parallel with the side of the car the headlight is on. Here is a paint drawing to explain:

Also, the distance between the beams from 25ft will tell you if they are truly aimed straight or not. For example, my projectors measured out to be 4ft 2in apart from projector to projector when I measured with a tape measure, the cutoff step of each projector should be the same distance apart at 25ft on level ground. If the distance is longer, they are pointed too far out, if the distance is shorter, they are pointed too far in.

This is by far the hardest part of retrofitting which is why I highly recommend having a trained person do the work for you if you don't have the time to do this sort of thing.

Hey Matt just wondering if there is a reason why you go with FX-R bixenon projectors vs the TSX low beam projectors? I've got the P5 headlights and want to do this but thought it would be simpler just to replace the low beam with a low beam projector.
Have you ever had a chance to compare the output of these two projectors?
Cheers.

FX-R's are a little better all around as both a low beam and you get the added bonus of HID high beams

TSX's are not terrible, but they are not the best they could be. They'll work great, but just aren't as bright or wide as other projectors (and i'll be honest, the HID high beam is nice to have)

Ahh thanks, turns out the FX-R is cheaper too.... Figured it'd be the other way lol
I think i'll keep my halogens wired as the only high beams though, as I do use flashing a LOT and it looks very cheap trying to flash HIDs when they give one bright flash that often isn't at the same time...

You could always wire the high beams in the FX-R's to a seperate switch too that way your "Flash to pass" is still the halogens

Turn Signal Swap

Anyone heard of trying to put the projector in the turn signal spot, and just moving the turn signal bulb to the high beam spot (and using a colored bulb or orange cone housing). Not sure about fit issues, but seems like the shape would make it a pretty sweet spot for the projector.

Hey Matt can you black out the rest of my housing and a retrofit kit how much? Also can I make it where my high beams are also functional?

Matt's unbanned?

and putting a projector into the turn signal spot and moving the turn signal to the high beam? I'm a little confused why you'd want to do that
