How-To: LED Interior / Reverse / Licence plate lights

I just got finshed sticking my LEDs in the interior, but i have to note that the trunk light is not the same as listed here although my car is a 2006 mazda3 sedan. The bulb needed for the trunk i have is the same as the bulb in the overhead by the windshield.

Can't wait for night time to check them out though.

thanks for pointing that out, i'll update the first post to let poeple know in the future.

Yeah, I wish changing the front console lights were that easy. Takes a bit of soldering to do, and if you break it, you have to buy a new one :((.

But afterwards, looks really pimp. If I have time, one day, I'll make mine a nice blue, or something.

lol important words missing ...

ummmmmmm im pretty sure i saw someone did it on another forum, but it might not have been an easy swap of bulbs, but more technical, with the use of some soldering

wanna do a write up for us ??? lol

Oh hell no Thats too deep for me. soldering I would burn the car down. I will not even use the lighter. Leave that to the experts.

How about that blue

The new Jaguar xkr, I believe, has a trick set up with an excellent blue. Take a look. If you pull it off you are hired.

so, i just wanted to say that i went ahead and bought the recommended bulbs for the license plate, and it turned out awesome. It is exactly as i had hoped for. If there is a demand for pics, i will go ahead and post them. FYI, you have a choice of which color to buy at checkout and i went with the crystal white...amazing. Looks like a more expensive car at night now.

With the stock red, id go with some red LED's. Could just try to change the voltage i guess :P

dumb question-is it still illegal to drive with em on? i know it is with the regular map lights/etc on so can i assume it also is if they are blue? not that id necessarily want to, just curious

Thanks for the write up! Just ordered some LEDs from the site, seems like a mod I can take on myself with the great instructions.

Does the dome light auto-dim the same with the LEDs installed after exiting the car before it is locked?

good writeup. i just changed most of my lighting to led last week, minus my turn signals. used superbrightleds.com as well. second 3 i've had and second time i've ordered from them. fairly fast, and great quality bulbs. and no, i'm not affiliated in any way with them either :)

how would red bulbs work for the interior? blue seems harsh, white boring, and red matches the theme they already have going on with the lighting?

Do you mean "Cool" white?

Just ordered mine!

I'm going light crazy this year. This will be an easy start, because, the next light mods to come are going to be much more difficult, as outlined below...in order of how hard it will be:

1. Upgrade stock xenon's to 6000k Ds2 bulbs
2. Upgrade fog's to xenon (not sure if I want to do this yet)
3. Daylight Demon Eyes from xenonexpert.com (this should be fun...)

No, the site odered from called it "crystal white" but it has the look you would expect from something described as "cool white". If you want a pix i can help you out.

Edit: I just checked the site again, and the crystal white is not there it is listed as cool white. Same part number, different name.

no, they may seem brighter standing from behind, but when you're in the driver's seat backing out, the stockers give more visibilty

I know it was posted before about the reverse lights, but for those who did the same mod, would you agree with that too or no? what is your opinion on it. I'm skeptical about changing mine if i lose visibility so let me know :)
