How To: Fender Side Markers Blink and On with Parking Lights

Circuit

Low and Slow
:
03 Protege5
Since I have been getting a lot of requests for this info lately, I thought I would start a thread.

I can post pictures at some point also. This mostly applies to P5's since they both have the lower side marker and upper fender side marker. It should work on regular protege's and MSP if you use the side marker in the headlight, but I cannot guarantee it.

Disclaimer: Use a DMM (digital multimeter) to verify all wire polarities. Solder, heat shrink, and tape all connections as these areas may get wet. I take no responsibility if you burn down your car, house, street, etc.

1. Cut Negative (black) wire from side marker, leaving a couple inches on the light side. Tape off the other side as it is not used anymore.

2. Tag on to the Positive wire from the lower side marker for P5's or the side marker on the headlight on MSP's.

3. Connect that Positive wire to the cut wire going to the Negative on the side marker.

4. Make sure to solder and heat shrink/tape all connections.

5. Hella JDM.

Nice great job .But you can also do this without cutting or touching the stock wiring that goes to the sidemarker.

Does anybody know how you can get the side market lights added on if you have the fog harness removed? I have no fog lights and when you remove the harness it eliminates the side marker lights also.

do u still have the harness or did u sell it? if u still have it i guess u could cut off the connectors and splice into the headlight side marker

if u dont have it, idk how else u would do it since u need those connectors

The way I'm talking about you can also add them because your not using the stock wiring to begin with.Way too cold and dark to get picture's for you guy's I'll have to find some time tomorrow.

Gana do this tomorrow, will post step by step pics for everyone!

thanks again, Chris

So I did it today and thought Ide post up on here some tips:

1. The side marker Negative is Black
2. The headlight the Positive is a Lime Green wire WITH aBlack Stripe.
3. When cutting the wire, try to leave as much room as possible on the connector side. Trust me, itll come in handy.
4. To fish the wire through I used some baleen wire.
