How to Disable motion sensing on mazda 3 navigation

Guys,

Please tell me someone knows how to disable this annoying security feature on the navigation. My Acura TL works lovely.

I cant stand drving my wifes mazda3 for the sole reason I cannot access the navigation main functions while moving.

If i would of know this i woudl of bought the car w/o it, added a after-market system.

please help me out.
 
It is possible, but only temporarily. The white wire on the connector on the back of the NAV DVD player can have a switch added to it to ground it. Then the functions can be used, but it doesn't track where you are going very well. When you are done you turn the switch off and it takes a while to find you again.
 
I was used to the Acura system as well, and was annoyed about the lock-out when moving in the Mazda navi. But, keep in mind that you can still choose from any preset destination, memory point, or previous destination, while on the move. So as long as the address is in there ahead of time, you can choose from any one of them. Takes some time to get them in, but as long as you do enter them in as memory points the first time you put in an address you can then always enter it as a destination while on the move the next time.

No, it's not a perfect solution, but it's better than nothing.
 
RGB and sync wires on the nav system?

Rotus8 - I've been trying to locate information on which wires are the RGB and sync connections on the back of the unit. Do you happen to know which ones these are as well?

Anyone seen these videos? The first one shows some guy apparently getting into a diagnostic menu within the Nav that is showing real live info on what the vehicle is doing from the speed in MPH and KMH to the gyro sensors on the Nav and more. On the second one, you can see he's somehow overruled the Nav speed lockout and is able to fully use the Nav while at speed. I don't suppose anyone knows how to do this????? Could the shop manual tell you how to get into that diagnostic menu????

I'm not sure if that's true or not, but can you back up your claim that using your navigation at speed is illegal? Where it differentiates between how much access to the Nav you can have at speed since you CAN actually use it at speed just in a limited way? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just want to know what law that is and whether it's a state or federal law. And if that's so, then talking on your cell phone should be as well. Yup, it actually is in some states but then again so is your Valentine Radar Detector in some states as well. (sssh)

B.S. Honda/Acura doesn't disable a thing on their navigation systems while the car is in motion.

Thank you! I always heard that but was not exactly sure. They can even change their splash welcome screen and insert a different image for the Nav startup by changing some file in the DVD ROM. Something to do with the .bin files.

Anyways, back to the point of this thread, I'm very intrigued by that diagnostic menu on the Mazda Nav. There's gotta be someone around who knows how to get into it if it's not in the shop manual. i doubt any dealer techs would know though.

The wiring diagrams just show wires connecting the display unit to the DVD unit, with no function labels on the wires. No indication which wire does what.
 
does it shut you out unless ya have the e brake on or do you have to be in park? i dont have it but ive installed some after market ones that just had a ground switch on the e brake and ya just jump it and your good

It blocks some of the menu items if you are moving, based on the speedometer being above 0. It's not connected to the transmission or hand brake.
 
It has no connection to the speedometer either, it's simply getting the speed from the gps itself (which obviously needs to be connected for the unit to work). I thought I saw a post awhile back with someone who had put a switch inline with the GPS antenna, and they'd shut it off so the GPS couldn't pick up a fix, do whatever they needed on the unit, then re-enable the switch again. But that's about the only physical change that you could make that would make any difference, for anything else you'd need to know how to change the software in some way to behave differently.

ill have to check this out. nav system is also hooked up to sterring angle and distanc travled so whn you have no signal it can still tell where you are
