After meeting up with OnRails and seeing this in person I resind me first comment back like 5 pages ago. Since my car is going to be up in the air this weekend putting the new wheels and AWR end links, and I need to go to AutoZone and get grommets as suggested by Brian, might as well pick up the springs and try this out. I have all the supporting mods, so why not. I'll let everyone know how things work out after this weekend.
Cool... you won't regret it. I think one of the reasons that people are having a hard time putting it on, is because they can't see it that well with the heatshield on. Mine was so easy, took 5 min. I have my heat shield off.

I bought the carb springs from AutoZone last night. Now you say the biggest spring, what exactly does that mean? There is one spring with the biggest wire gauge, there is another that has the biggest length from end to end, and there is one with the biggest amount of coils. Which one? The biggest gauge wire spring is the stiffest while the biggest coiled section spring is pretty loose.

I tightened mine up a bit today. It is still at 8psi, but it changed something with the boost. Now my boost gauge jumps from vac to 0psi with a little touch of the throttle. Is this ok? I think I might give the MBC another try, and if I can't get that to work I'll stick with the spring.

we already went through this in this thread way back in the beginning. We really appreciate your concerns and all, but if it is good enough for Corky Bell then it is good enough for me. I still don't understand how the nonbelievers can call it hack, just because it is a DIY and cheap? Hack is a manual boost controller, cutting up your lines and possibly putting it in backwards, possibly, that causes problems. There is no way to fudge up the spring, it is the same as taking apart your wastegate and putting in a stronger spring. I have been running this over a year and it hasn't varied one bit. Sure, I am going to do a EBC once I have enough into the car to justify it, but right now I don't need it, just wanted a bit more push and for 5$ you aren't going to find a better one..mazda.speed. said:

Velocifero, I agree with you 100% on this, but i guess since its cheap then some think its not credible, right?
