how much power can I gain?

How much power can I gain from taking of the catylitic converter? I know a guy who will do it for $150. Is this alot? Is the power increase worth it?

no....its not worth it.....our cats flow pretty darn good....so you will be throwing away your money....not to mention making your car non-comformance with the laws. if you want to do something with that money that is going to get you some increase...put it in a jar and save up some more and get a decent Cat-Back exhaust system.

thats kind a lot to do it for . all they have to do is cut it out and weld a straight pipe.$100-80 is more resonable , try to work a price out. i guarantee its going make more power and sound louder!

the other thing is just to gut out the cat. both restrictors under and on the exhaust manifold. might do it later to my car. to make the car louder .

Good question. My current car is way too damn loud...I certainly didn't buy the exhaust because it was loud. That's pretty weird, if you ask me. Why go out of your way to make your car obnoxious?

There're few things worse than a loud droning exhaust note, especially on the highway. After a long road trip, my ears ring. I turn up the stereo so I can hear it over the exhaust, and that just makes it worse...

i got mine done for 40 bucks i believe. Also there is a difference between an obnoxious exhaust and nicly tuned exhaust. I personally love the sound of my exhaust because of the fact that it is loud. I mean it gets attention and that's what i am looking for. My car may not be the fastest but peoples heads do turn when i pass. Power gain wise for 150 bucks it's not worth it. Small power gains noticed. Screw emissions laws......lol just kidding for any environmentalists out there.

lol I don't I know...there is nothing worse than driving around listening to a fartcan whistle in your ear..but when I drive in my friend John's convertible mustang(loudest car around) and he revs it under an overpass...WHOa its the greatest thing ever!
