How much for a "NEW" 2007 Sport?

I found a 2007 Black MS3 Sport at the local dealer. I was just wondering how much would be a reasonable price you'd pay. I know of people buying 2008's for invoice. Also this car has 500+ miles on it in testdrives. Should I be able to get way under invoice? Let me know what ya'll think, thanks.

You shouldn't be paying "new" car prices on a vehicle thats already 1 year old and was a dealer demo/tester. I've been down that road, and it was a complete nightmare.

Around here, 07 MS3's go for right around $18k. I found an 08 with 4,000 miles on it and a Lincoln/Mercury dealer sold it for $19k. I have another one here with 25k miles on it for $18500.

Keep in mind, you're only doing them a favor by getting it off the lot. They've already lost a bit of money in the car by not selling it, and by having to pay interest back to Mazda for having the car still on the lot. If you REALLY want to buy that car, you'd have them in the palm of your hands. But, regardless, not every MS3 salesperson is kind enough to let the car properly turn off and turn on for the periods of time required. And i'm sure those 500 miles weren't gentle miles either.

I would negotiate it down to $17k OTD. They arn't going to match your offer, they're only going to go higher. So as long as you know in the back of your mind that you're okay with $18k OTD (let them feel like they still won..), then go for it.

But don't expect to throw one number out there and win. You're going to have to deal with them whining and crying over the car being brand new and yata yata yata.

Also, it helps to have some form of cash in hand, preferrably $1k or more. It shows you're serious, rather than showing you're depending on financing the entire amount because you're broke and have no down payment. Unfortunately, they judge everything by the looks of things, and they're not willing to kick in unless they're sure you're serious and are ready to do it. Thats when they loosen up.

Sounds good, I was planning on putting down about $8k anyways. I was really looking at the new updates on the 2008 GT, but if I can get a deal on this 07, I might just do it.

To be honest, if that's the case...get an 08.5.

Bought my 05 GTO in March 2006. It had 280 miles on it, apparently it was a dealer demo. I negotiated the car to $25k OTD with $4k and the 06 18" wheels on the car. The car was lemon-lawed out in January 07.

The entire time I had the car, I was back and forth to the dealer. Alignment issues, trans issues, diff issues, power steering issues, gas cap broke like 6 times, gas tank started leaking, you name it I had it all.

I had almost jumped on the deal for the 08 MS3 with only 4k miles on it, but I kept reminding myself, and decided "No way..".

Even though 500 miles is 500 miles, you could **** the car for 500 miles and have issues. If you're looking to keep the car and have the most amount of fun with it with the least amount of time wasted in the service center, I'd buy brand spanking new and get a 08.5 at invoice + your 8k down. Much better.

Not to mention, the guys who have smoking turbo issues on the 07's, the recalls they had on the 07's. There were a few issues to stay away from.

I bought a 2007 GT with 15000 miles for $19500. It had been sitting on their lot for a few months already.

Absolutely. Trying to add that later is tricky, and the GT models will have better resale value down the road.

I don't use the auto wipers FWIW.

How are you liking the HIDs, Bose System, and Auto wipers/lights? Worth the extra for the GT?

I keep telling people to forget the GT and get sports the leather is hard and it sucks the bose system is no better than the sport system Auto lights and wipers can break and be a headache so it boils down to HIDs. I don't think 2000 is a fair price for hids.

I got an 07 with 250miles on it that was a test drive mule. I got it in december paid 21600 OTD thought it was a pretty good deal. I have about 1600 miles on it now with no problems. If you can get it for 19k OTD I would snatch it.

Exactly the same reason I didn't even consider the sport. Adding HIDs later would be cheap and unreliable. In the past I have hated doing any light related mods. Always messed up and dealing with the manufacturer is a real pain or they are out of business. Leather + alcantara, Bose, led tails and auto wipers are all pretty sweet extras regardless if you need it or not.

My leather is soft because I condition it and keep it maintained.

The Bose stereo is definitely better than the standard one, but it's not like audiophile-quality.

Auto lights and wipers can break? Umm, sure, I guess.....anything can break. Your car's headlamp bulbs will burn out, my HIDs will go a long time before needing replacement, and I also get about 3x the light output of your halogen bulbs.

I also get a TPMS, which is kinda nifty in case I get a slow leak or something like that.

I think it's a bit harsh and a gross oversimplification to say that "the only difference is HIDs". (screwy)

The Sport version is still a good car, but given the choice, and the relatively small price difference, why not get a few extras?

I got my 08 for invoice - 300, was a sport model and only had 12 miles on it. they tried to push a demo GT with 800 miles on it for invoice. I'm very happy with my car.

get what you want and understand that if you work them ( I sold cars for 15 years) hold tight and be upfront, ie tell them you want to buy the car and are going to buy one but your not gonna pay more than XXX dollars, you'll get the deal in the end. remember they are counting on you folding before they do.

I think the biggest misunderstanding for me and the Auto Headlights is, i'm sure that isn't good for Xenon's to just turn on and off whenever the computer tells it to. I may never end up using that myself personally. Just to be safe.

The GT packs a lot for the price. The leather isn't the greatest but it looks a lot better than the cloth in the sport. The Bose audio system with 6 disc in dash cd changer isn't as bad as ppl are playing it out to be. The adjustable HID Xenon headlights rock as do the led tail lights. It's also kinda nice have a anti theft security system. I'm not all that thrilled with the rain sensing windshield wipers but it's kinda neat. There's always better stuff in the after-market for cars but with the GT you don't really need to do much as it will most likely keep you content. Just look inside a Sport and then a GT, the leather makes it look so much better. Also, imagine how tacky a after-market audio system would look in a MS3...

So yeah I would go with a 8.5 GT with 8k down and try to get in at or a little above invoice if you can.
Even if you pay sticker it's just a great deal!

In my opinion the HID is the only feature that I like on the GT. I am just judging the leather and audio from what I had seen at the dealer. The leather felt hard. The audio was very dissapointing. I was expecting there to be some nice bass to the system. The bass in my sport feels just as good as the bose bass did. And the auto wipers and lights I may be overly harsh on them since some dude on the forums had his break and he is having a pain trying to get it fixed the dealer can't figure it out. So fine the windshield wipers and lights probly won't break. But I really don't care about turning on a switch when it gets dark or when it rains, it's very simple to do yourself.

Hell, even i'm trying to consider the navi system or not...I've always wanted it, but the car I ordered isn't coming with it. I wonder if they can add it later

Young - when I got my SS, I didn't care if it had leather or cloth. I could careless about the Bose, and didn't necessarily need a sunroof at all (which I don't use period). All I wanted was an SS. Now, if my SS had the option of factory HID's packaged together with the Bose, Sunroof, and also get more options in general? Then maybe I would have considered it.

But paying more per month on my lease (leather + heated seats $3k option alone...AWD $3k option, that's an extra $100 a month in lease), didn't make sense. Now that i'm buying my MS3, I want all the ammenities I can get.

It boils down to your personal preference and what makes sense to you. For me the sport makes more sense.
