how much better?

today it has come to my attention that manufactured exhaust is better than custom piping..but how much better? horsepower wise?
i paid 310 full for my 3" s-back custom piping with apexi N1 muffler...
ive seen exhaust systems for our cars that are near and over $1000...
so how much better could those be than my custom exhaust?

i was gonna ask cause my friend bought a new car, and exhaust will be one of his first modifications.... so which money/quality ratio is the best?

The problem with custom piping is that most shops do "crush bends" which are not smooth bends in the pipes but rather look like ridges these bends cause you to lose HP and power since the outside diameter appears to be bigger but the inside diameter is a lot smaller. Aftermarket exhaust already have "mendrel bends" which are very smooth bends that help exhaust flow and most aftermarket exhaust systems have their exhaust pipes coated. Also aftermarket exhaust usually more than not look and have a better fit than custom exhausts.

i got a costum 2.5" with mandrel bends for 560 ttl including protosport dp, installation and an addition of magnaflow resonator with tsudo cf muffler. i just see no point to spend over a G on an exaust when you can costum make it right for less then half the price. just takes you a little longer, but you can make it sound and look exactly the way you want it.

As long as your fabricator is knowledgeable, tig welds and uses mandrel bends, your custom setup will be fine.
