i use it if i want to pass someone or just feel like getting alittle extra umph outa the cx... it makes me nervous though, seems like it may be harmful to car. i never rev past 5000 though, and don't use it often. i've only had the cx alittle over a week though...i know alot of vehicles have it now. not sure how the cx's trans compares to other vehicles though.

I use the manual mode most of the time. I got used to it driving my old vehicle, a 2004 Mazda 3 with the same transmission.

I use it all the time. Fun to use and as our other car is a manual. Also helps when climbing hills at highway speed so you do not go down to 5th gear.

If you're looking to do some hard cornering and power out of the corners, the only way you can do it is in manual mode.

At ZoomZoomLive, I kept it in 2nd gear the whole time. God was that a riot. I achieved such a fast track time w/the cx-7 that they told me to slow down or I'm ejected.

I use the manual mode in my p5 if I'm going to pass someone or I am winding through a subdivision. 2nd gear is all I need to fly through turns and still keep it under 25 mph (posted speed limit).

I've also noticed that automatics like to stay in a higher gear if possible to coast/conserve fuel. This is all fine and good except if you're coasting up to a traffic light that suddenly turns green. Hitting the gas gives you no power. It eventually downshifts, but I can be much faster if I manually downshift.

Once and a while. I find I forget I have it in that mode so I just use it once and a while for fun from a standstill.

almost never, Im usually just enjoying the ride. My solara is my little racer (which is kind of an oxy moron)

solara have some decent speed to them, I like the new bumper looks more agressive.

yeah, I have a 2002 and Im not really looking to go incredibly fast, I just like precise handling...its a little heavy but with some trd goodies, the weight seems to melt off

Had the car 24 hours and have used it twice already :)

It's fun... and I miss driving a stick.

when u go from man back to auto, do u just slap it back to auto or should u let off gas for a second and put back to auto? i've been just putting back to auto while giving gas still....i've been using man alot though, but i am getting less MPG... oh well. it's worth it.

i use it about 80% is a lot of fun i just wish our car came with the paddle shift i love that!!!
