how hard is it to reach 210 hp to the wheels?

i was jus wondering what mods would need to be done to be able to reach 210hp? i want to get the mazda speed protege, and i was planning on getting: the full 3" Catback Exhaust and downpipe from apex, injen short ram air intake, greddy typeS bov, (dunno what fmic) FMIC, and upping the boost. oh i was also wondering how much boost the stock internals can handle? i know the sticky says it can handle 9lbs, but i was wondering if anybody has gone higher and its safely driveable for every day use? i would appreciate the help alot. (cool)

FMIC, exhaust, intake, and unichip.

and at 210whp, you'll be getting close to the stock rod limit ;)

so if jus set the manual boost controller to 10 psi i should be alright? maybe this should be in the forced induction section, but anyways; what does the turbo timer do? and do you need the turbo timer if you have the boost controller?

No, you don't need the turbo timer with the boost controller. All the turbo timer does is let the engine run to cool down after you've left the car. You can accomplish the same thing by sitting in the car for about 60 seconds with the engine running before you turn it off.

As for jacking up the boost, depending on where you live you may run into trouble with spark cut in cooler weather at 10psi. Also, many folks here have learned the hard way that its a bad idea to run anything over stock in terms of boost if you can't afford a new engine. Mazda won't warranty it (justafiably if you're using a MBC) and they do pop. Even some stock ones do!

The best thing to do would be to buy a car from the factory that had a claimed 220 whp. Chances are that it will put down less than that.

Then, when it puts down 210 you will be happy.

yeah, but whats the fun, no modding, cept just like an exhaust on that car?

yeah, but usually by boosting high in 5th from like 3k rpm. i think around 200 whp is a good goal for a msp on stock internals. you'll probably want to have a clutch and some motor mounts though. i wouldn't boost over 9 on stock internals for sure, but some have and are fine. for me it's not worth the risk.

be smart

just get your 3" exhaust, intake, bov, updated intercooler and keep boost to 8psi or LESS, you'll have a happy fast ride that probably wont blow up. unless you're a drag stip hero, you don't need that much power (and if you are a drag strip hero/you bought the wrong car.)

my mods wish list: then DONE.

3" turbo back
CAI
hardpipes with greddy type s
FMIC
gauges (boost etc.)
and maybe some cosmetics like a carbon fiber hood? maybe...

Factory claims are crank HP not wheel HP.

note that WRX's claim 227 factory hp and put down 175 whp on the dyno.

stock MSP's put about 150hp and 155lb to the wheels normally.

We need more than 175whp to be anywhere near as fast as a WRX on the strip, though, can't get the power down as efficiently.

Buy mine I have been running 10.5 psi for over a year and runs like a charm, I also have more then 210 hp.

Have you had the reflash on your ecu? Could I run 10.5 psi with that reflashed without other engine mods? If not 10.5 psi then how high? Sorry to bug you but just lookin for info. Thanks.

I live in Minnesota and a couple I hit spark cut cuz it was so cold out with no aftermarket boost control it's completely stock. it was scary.
