How fast do you want your MSP to be?

i have the AEM wideband, but im not sure if that is what you mean. are saying im going to need a standalone and/or the J&S Safeguard.

You're going to need more than a split second afc to tune with since you put the gt28rs on..

You're going to need more than just an air/fuel controller.. Especially with a turbo that could easily blow your engine if not tuned right.. I would opt for a piggy back unit (ie: mpi tuner, emanage, etc) over a standalone..
 
Then he should get a standalone.. Personally, I wouldnt feel comfortable dropping 1k + on a standalone for a protege and then more to get it tuned.. Thats just my opinion though..

why most of the piggybacks end up being almost as expensive after all the adapters, software and whatever else. I say If you know someone who can set it up hassle free then go standalone...you will spend a little more money, but not by much...
 
i wanna see mine start...and make 200hp...i was at 165 (i think) like last august. but ive added a few things sence then.
 
Yeah the car starting is a major role in making HP, so what made it not start did you blow or just a build in progress?

Anything over simple bolt ons.

This MSP PCM/ECU is not tuner friendly to piggybacks no matter what system it is. Unichip works up to a certain amount of mods and boost level.

There is a open loop switch point at 3000 and 4000 rpm depending on TPS and MAF voltage. Tuning fuel maps via the MAF on this car is a lost cause at high boost levels.

You have to switch to a MAP sensor unless your can reprogram the stock PCM/MAF to accept a different MAF sensor.

HKS VPC was something used before stuff like the HKS F-Con Vpro and AEM EMS.

Well, I've seen 14.9 @ 94. That was with dumping the clutch and getting tremendous amounts of wheel hop off the line, never having driven a boosted car let alone a 5 speed at a track. Still managed a 2.2 60 foot. Now with that said. I have learned how to shift faster, roll the clutch out quickly and smoothly. I figured out the art of no lift shifting to keep the turbo spooled even while shifting(you gotta be that quick). I gotta be in the mid to low 14's going at least over 100.

I would like to see 250 at the wheels. My plan is to see just how far I can take the stock motor and see how reliable it is under extreme conditions. I just got a new job that will allow me the down time to really tear into the motor and see what can be done. WOOT Company Truck!

Mods to come soon, almost too soon.

T3/T4 hybrid turbo and all the necessary goodies
Bigger front mount
Split second AFC
New LSD
Fuel Injectors and fuel rail
Metal Radiator

If all else fails, I will probably get a JDM BP motor and build it to 300 WHP.

yea i just installed the awr rear mm, perrin fuel rail, pg intake mani, throttle body and IM spacers, turboxs bpv, and i had to get some other parts that broke while installing everything. i gotta get some vacuum line 2 and couplers and add oil..i should be set. tune the afc and get a dyno run.
 
I have the source for the Dog Box gearset and fully built valvetrain components.

500 hp and strong is definitely doable now.

I plan on blowing out my tranny before I switch to the dog box.

looking for a 10sec...but expecting 11s....high 11s...who knows..depends on the tune and work done...

oh wow i didnt know you had that crazy of a setup. what ems? injectors? turbo? i assume you plan to do this on slicks or d/r's right?
 
i don't know exactly what hp goal i want but i want my car to be in the mid to high 11's. i just want to be able to beat a good majority of the other tuners out there.

yeah. i'm going crazy..sometime.. i have mpi. will have a stage 1 ported head, i have custom cams. secondary fuel rail w/ injectors. t3t4 turbonetics for now...

but for now i'm looking on 5psi...like...low 14s we'll see tonight.
