How does everyones AC work?

I'm in Dallas with a midnight blue P5 leather with no tint. When I get in after work, it's sitting in direct sun and its 100+ outside, it takes about 10 minutes on the freeway to get comfortable. After another 5 minutes I'm turning it down because it's too cool. In a typical Detroit car that 10 minutes might be 5.

hmm....when I first got my car back in May 2002, the air conditioner was freezing cold on the hot days...Currently during this summer...it is taking a while for it to send out cool air.

I am guessing that the air conditioner needs to be recharged. Is this something I can do myself? Or easier just letting the dealership deal with it?

I remember my 323 AC didn't perform that great. This MP3 AC is not that good under the Texas heat. My friend's AC in her Miata is okay, but not all that great especially for a coupe.

Honda ACs are great compared to our Mazda AC, I can tell the aircondition in my friend's Si is much cooler than my car.... guess that's why Hondas have no torque :D

Mine works great (at times). On long trips over 3 hours, it tends to freeze up and stop blowing air at all. Mazda dealer said they are aware of the problem and replaced some part behind my glove box. It still happens once in a blue moon though, but I have given up on trying to get it fixed cause the dealer says they cant drive my car for 3 hours to get it to do that and I dont want them to anyway.
I am not sure why some people (uclap) and others say do not recirculate. When you look at owners manuals from all auto companies, they say use "fresh" when you first get in the car and then as it cools down, switch to recirculate to get the maximum cooling since it is re-processing the cool air in the car and not working on cooling the hot outside air. But if you are in a rainstorm, use the fresh setting cause the car will fog up with the recirc button on.

OH this is right up my alley..im in AZ dealing with 115 degree temps. if its over 100 out it takes a good 10-15 minutes to cool it down. and when it is 110, i can get home from work (30 mins) without cooling down. but in not such extreme temps it works well and has to be turned down after a while

Funny you should ask...

I live in Chas. SC and it gets very hot and humid here. I would have it cranked up, but it took forever to cool things down. I took it to the dealership and basically the AC is just not that cold. They put a temp. gauge on the vent and it registered cold, but it's not cold like a Toyota or GM car is. My mom for example has a Toyo Camry and it flat out freezes you. My dad drives a Chevy Tahoe and the AC works great. Mazda AC just doesn't work as well. I have it on recycle air (orange light is on instead of green for fresh, because it works better), but it's still not as good as AC should be. That along with the crappy sized wires under the hood and alternator suck.
