Why must we always assume the worst?
----
Sport Mode does make the carmore responsive at speed.
More responsive yes to slight throttle input, sure. Faster? no.

Faster? No. Feel faster? Subjective.
Try "squeezing" the pedal [all the way to the floor] rather than stomping. Just move your foot a little slower, and see if that makes a difference. It's counterintuitive, but it works for me.
I will give that a try next time. I just figured since everything is electronic, when WOT was achieved this thing would go like the wind. You know, electronic response and all.

If you didn't have a 2014 in your signature, that would have been funnier.
Mainly I'm concerned about getting around someone on the freeway, not teh feelz, so this one I think is more important to view objectively vs. subjectively, because losing...subjectively AND objectively sucks.
I stopped using sports mode several months ago after I am more enjoying the manual mode, a big difference than using the sports mode. What mode do you prefer?I think you just think you get improvement. Sport mode will do nothing for you.

Modes? We don't need no stinking modes..(nor do we have them)) I 'manually' shift both my cars almost exclusively..control enthusiast...but unob's right on this one..all "sport" mode does in the CX-5 is quicken throttle response and hold gears longer- too touchy imo from my somewhat brief sampling
Sport mode in my *18 x3 is indeed sport mode. The engine transmission have distinct map changes

That's different/superior to the CX-5's how? My X1 has it too its rubbish. Your X3s maybe a bit smarter maybe apportions more torque rearward, etc but short of that and/or suspension/bush stiffening of higher end examples I don't see the point. 3 pedals and RWD- the best sport modes are ones that can't be turned off![]()
This is proper sports mode.
It still does absolutely nothing for added power or acceleration.
On other brands it does from memory regarding faster acceleration.
Nope...
Funny thing is, for best acceleration, you*d actually want the softer ride of eco mode, and the better shift points of sport mode, hence them cancelling each other out basically. Now granted, the Bimmer sport mode is better than the Mazda because it adjust the power steering some, but it still does nada for performance and acceleration, and the adjusted ride isn*t worth it for most situations.
