how do i turn off Open Door light

im not sure if this is the right section but i needed to know how to turn off the open door light thats on the dashboard, is there a fuse that i can remove to turn it off, that button on the side of the door that controls the light is broken and the light is constantly turned on sucking the battery, i have a 99 Protege

the pressure switch that the door presses against is located at the lower rear portion of the frame where the door meets the car, on the car side. use a phillips head screwdriver to take it out and check to see if it's stuck. otherwise you'd have to take your guage cluster out to remove the light you want to shut off.

Pull the switch out at the lower back corner of the door and remove the wire from it, then tape it off and you have a temporary fix until you get a replacement switch.

Diddo on just removing the wire... it is a normally open switch.
