would u guys be interested in making an intercooler that would fit in stock location but maybe thicker with metel end tanks, and maybe less press. drop? i ask this because i know it would not be as good as a fmic but it would hopefully cost much less and be easier to install and give poeple the option of using the stock piping or get some hard pipes. i know theres talk of someone else making something like this around here but i trust u guys and think if it is done u guys would do it the best!!! thanks jose

jrod1019 - no it's not something we're interested in doing. That is (1) because it's not cost effective and (2) bang for the buck won't be very high. You're limited in size in the stock location.

Yeah, because cars haven't gone faster with similar sized IC's  ... Not that a FMIC is a total waste, but a good upgraded stock replacement will suffice well into the 12's with knowledgeable tuning... Hell, even the stock IC will do better than people seem to think.. It has been proven..

Hell- look at the DSM's with their side mount IC's- the ONLY air they get is waht sneaks around the foglight and back through the IC- people have gone 11's like that (I am one of them). I remember people saying a stock IC wouldn't make it into the 13's with a DSM  ... This cars IC is far superior to what people make it out to be...

IN other words, it just doens't have that Bling-Bling factor :D

hey I like my bling factor! not really but my i/c setup is more function than form. it's just a bonus that it looks nice.

but i see what people are saying and I believe the stock i/c can do it's job just fine. the first mod i should of done was the exhaust. with the amount of money i've spent i would of been probably in the low 13's with some bomb ass handling, realiable, daily driven ofcourse, and smokin alot of other forced induction cars out there on the market.

i don't quite agree with this one cuz there are a lot more things that should be done first in a turbo car if you wanna go fast....for example, boost controller...intake and exhaust would be the very last thing to do for my car...

Boost controller . . . are you serious? What other things should be done on the list besides that. Please help me.

If your car can't breath, or flow better turning up the boost is only defeating the purpose, you are forcing more air in but where is it going to go? Have you physically taken of the downpipe and measured the I/D of it? Once you do that tell me turning up the boost should be the best thing if you wanna "go fast".

Well how much boost are you talking about? I guess for me it's about getting everything to flow properly.

not to mention two cats, a precat , and a muffler, along with the ingeious s-bend

Damn I think I forgot about all that restriction =) ! Thanks for the input. If I remember correctly I believe the S bend was less than 2" on the I/D. Someone else posted larger than that, maybe my tape measure was off or I was smoking the same crack mazda was when they decreased the size of the radiator for a turbo vehicle and kept the primary and secondary runners or whatever they are in the intake manifold. Even the head guy in the mazdaspeed program said you could just take out and cap the runners, they aren't necessary. Anyhow, that is another topic another day and another dollar.

(rofl)

i dunno how big the s-bend is but the stock piping ranges from a little less than 2" to slightly bigger than 2". i posted my exact measurements a little while back.

YES! you were the one. i tried searching but got useless info because of the minimum of using 4 characters. but the s-bend I/D should be 1" 5/8. pretty sad to have that on a turbo car.

do something improperly: to carry out a piece of work poorly, without spending enough time, trouble, or materials on it.

I was thinking about trying to port it out some but looking at the material I don't think there will be enough to take out to make a difference. when my custom one comes then I'll rule!!
