Hey guys, does anybody have this on their P5??How does it sound??See I have a cat-back right now which I thought is a Magnaflow because when I looked at the pipe up close and nowhere did it say "Magnaflow", and I looked on their website and even their univeral canisters says "Magnaflow" on it.So I figured the guy who sold it to me lied and gave me Magnaflow stickers to "cover up his tracks".I mean the one I have sounds great but I don't know if it's street legal? So I was thinking of up grading to the Hi-Power.For the P5,it says "rear section only",does that mean the just the muffler??

yeah its just the muffler. its only loud between 3-4.5k rpm and its got that sweet jdm looking angle to it:p

Wait,I just looked on the HKS site and didn't see any angle on the tip for the Hi-Power??

There are plenty of HKS pics around. The whole muffler is angled-the pic on HKS's site doesn't look like the actual exhaust. It sounds great. Overpriced though and it will probably break the one hanger off.

What do you mean "it'll break the one hanger off"??

Yeah goku's right I do have the HKS hi-power axle back he can vouch that it sounds awsome since he heard it when we were all caravaning up to the NJ meet and I also reved it to show him how it sounds it does'nt sound ricey at all but has a deep aggresive tone to it. I like it a lot because it's not too big and it fills up the hole of the rear bumper nicely not to mention it's angled out JDM style as for the hanger so far I've been lucky and I have had it on my car for about 2 years and have had no problems with it.

I like mines a lot, and I believe with 2000-3000 miles on it now, its starting to get louder, and has a good rumble to it now. I've never even put the silencer on it since the first day I installed it. It isn't so loud that it'll be annoying but isn't quiet that you won't hear it.

hp?

this is probably a dumb question, but would you get a reasonable power increase with just the axle back?

I don't think so, 1-2HP at the most.

Since the only performance mod I have is this axle back, I know that I've lost low end power, meaning that I don't start off as quickly as before. But I know that I feel more power in the higher RPMs so this probably evens things out. Its almost no effort now to take the car from 75mph-110mph without feeling bogged down when I was just stock. Seems to accelerate faster up at 4k RPMs.

Wrong not 1-2 hp, in the low rpms it produced 3.8hp and at high rpm's it produced like 5.8hp and I'am not bullshitting I have the august issue of turbomagazine it's an old issue but they dyno tested a P5 with the axle back and it made pretty good numbers for only an axle back.

worth it?

so is it worth it just to buy the axle back, or would it be better to buy a full cat-back. because i really like the way the hks looks.

Well you can do what I'am doing and many others who have axle backs basically I bought the hks because I fell in love with the look and love how it sounds so now me and others who want a cat-back are just going to buy the cat-back section that DSM convert is producing that will directly bolt-on to the axle-back and presto full-cat back.

Here is the thread- http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78706

He will also be making mid-pipes which I plan on getting one as well w/o a cat.
