I am in the market for a performance set of coilovers for my 2 and was disappointed to see that Tein is not offering the Flex for the two. I have done some looking and have narrowed it down to 3 coilovers that I am wanting to purchase but I there seems to be little to no info on any of the coilovers.

What I am looking for is a coilover that I can drive on daily yet is good enough to deliver high performance on the autox or spirited driving. Ride height is not my priority here.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for my coilover needs.

What I'd like to know is if the US 2s have the same setup as the JDM demios. Because I found a site last night that listed TEIN coilovers for the demio.... Free bump for your thread

Good luck. Not a lot of folks have put CO's on their M2 and even fewer have been able to do a comparison. Heck, you can't even get spring rates from the manufacturers.

I took a shot in the dark and installed the Bilsteins. Do a search and you'll find my installion info and driving impressions.

Bilstein, Koni and H&R have always been high rated. I'm not so sure about the Japanese CO's and their approach to suspension design (overly soft rear springs, 101 shock stiffness settings, etc). On the Integra forums I go to, users have been less than enthusiastic about the less expensive sets, but I have no personal experience.

My gripe with the Bilsteins is the lack of info and they are offering the same setup for both the Fiesta & the Mazda2. Granted they are the same car but the sway bar setup is totally different.

Not to mention The Mazda2 has been out in japan a little bit longer then it has been in the United States.

Too many things to take into consideration!

I'll bet that the Bilstein was designed around the Mazda 2. The set-up is very neutral with the stock M2 sway bar. Probably pushes on the Fiesta, but so does the Fiesta apparently,,,,,,, all by itself.

I have a Fiesta front bar to put on my M2. I also have tubing to build a beefy rear bar (similar to the Racing Beat rear bar) to balance the front. Just need time......... This Damn Day Job thing really makes the fun part of life difficult.

I need to check into spring rates but i am quite sure that the mazda2 is 95% the same car as we are getting.

4/2,5 spring rates are very very soft.In general tein uses soft springs..
My coilovers have 5/3 kgr/mm spirngs and I still need a bit harfer even for road use.

For mixed road/track use I think ideal spring rates would be 6/4.
With 5/3 is good for road and very safe with neutral handling.
