Hitch Help

I am looking at getting a hitch for my 2010 CX-9. I found some pictures on this forum of the factory hitch and the "Hidden Hitch", but not the "Curt". Etrailer.com only brings up the Curt and Valley for the 2010 model. I want a nice sturdy and good looking hitch. Any help will be appreciated.

I know that "CX9 SportOwner" was researching what the actually difference in the Towing Prep package was on the CX9s... I was wondering if anything was ever found visibly other than the extra fan control module. I am looking at towing a 6x11 trailer with a 4 person kawasaki mule on the back every once in a while and just want to make sure I am ok to do so. Most of the time it would just be the 6x11 trailer with a 4 wheeler or lawn mower.

I have a FWD version. When I purchased it the salesman told me it was 3500 lbs, but he was wrong. When I went in and asked he said the CX-7 I was looking at had 2000lb and the CX-9 I was looking at had 3500lb. I think he was right about the CX-7, but not about the one I ended up with. So now I have a 2000 lb limit. And I think the kawasaki mule itself is 1500 lb dry weight.

I have no accessories right now. So I would probably be fine with either, I just saw the Curt was the cheapest and had not seen any pictures other than the video on Etrailers website, which I could not get a good view.

And from what I understand the towing prep is only fans and modules, no extra "heavy duty" tranny cooler, correct? (and the shift points, which I don't care about since I would use manual to stay out of overdrive anyway).

Where is the cheapest place to get that stock mazda hitch. And I need to get a harness too I guess.

Thanks.

I have a Touring, thats why I was saying I had the 2000 lb limit. Guess I will have to get one from a private party or go with a different brand hitch.

I really just don't understand how an extra fan module would make most of the difference between the two packages. I would have expected more differences for a 1500lb increase. Makes me wonder what I could do to mine to be safe with towing about 2500 lb. Transmission fluid capacity is the same and engine coolant capacity is increased by half a quart.

If anyone has a factory hitch for my 2010 available please let me know!

I would like to buy one very soon. If I cannot find factory I will have to pick the best looking aftermarket.

The Curt looked like it had good potential since the reciever is below the crossbar and not even with it... so if it fits perfectly it may hide everything behind the bumper but the hitch. Please post up if you have a picture of that one.

Thanks,

Go on eBay or carmax or a dealer lot and get a VIN off of a 2010 GT or AWD. That should be all you need to order one. IMHO the hidden hitch is not so hidden. The Valley looks to be a better looking piece once installed but I have yet to see a single pic.

As an aftermarket hitch, this is as "hidden" as it could possibly be w/o cutting the bumper....

Maybe its the angle of the pic but it looks like it projects out nearly to the back of the bumper. I wonder if that is truly necessary. How is it from eye level?

bought a curt on amazon...and wiring from curt web site///took about 30 min to install..longer to tighten bollts than yo put hitch on
