High Mileage Turbo?

Ok here's my dilemma...I have a P5 with about 140,000km (90k miles) on it. I have recently bought a High Boost turbo kit that i'm awaiting shipment off. I had a buddy tell me that i would blow the piston rings if i install it on my car now. Has anybody installed a turbo on a high mileage vehicle and what problems have u run into (other than rusty bolts...lol)

As often as people blow their s*** with fresh internals on these motors, I'd have to go along with what your friend says. Why waste the time & money on the turbo kit without at least giving the motor a sporting chance? Unless you only plan on running like 2 psi then I'd give some attention to the long block before strapping on the turbo. You'll most likely wish you had later if you don't. That will the best thing to do is do the internals in the motor before u put turbo on the motor. U do not want to blow the motor than have to rebuild it and more money to do the rest.

honestly. your motor will be fine as long as you run small boost. Turbos wear out block quicker but if you serviced your motor correctly so far, it sohuld still be fine. you can always bolt the kit on and run it on low boost and then save up and/or build a block in the mean time.

I'm runnin low boost on my 75k miler ....................................................................but that's because it's auto & turboless. At least change the timing belt then.

I'm not boosted, that's the low boost on mine. 5-7 should be ok on an auto. 5 shouldn't be too bad on your motor IF it has been maintained I suppose. I would just be patient, start with building a block to handle enough boost to be worth all the time & money & be able to get longer lasting fun of doing it to begin with. Anything less is pretty much a recipe for zoom zoom boom club.
