Are these just the single HID or did you get the bi-xenon?
Its the Hi/Lo kit, but the highs are halogen, so not bi-xenon. The halogen high beams are absolutely useless, because the HID low beams are bright enough to never need high beams ever again.

Ah, I see. So what happens to your DRLs?

When the DRLs go on, the lights flicker and it sounds like the ballast might self-destruct. Even before I had HIDs, I never used DRLs, i.e. I always turn on my lights. Nonetheless, I have to disable my DRLs for other people that drive my car and don't switch on the head lights.

You could try and connect the DRL wire to use the highs.

easy to do? any how-tos around?

I don't know if it's easy to do or not, haven't tried. I'm assuming that if/when you find the source for the DRLs then it's a piece of cake after that. I'm going to try and tackle this in the summer. The only issue I see is that the DRLs in the Proteges are a lot brighter than in other cars. That is, I think there is more current to the bulb. I guess a way around that is to incorporate a resistor. Don't need everyone flashing you because your lights are pointed so high and so bright.
