Hiccup this morning

Even if the maf was wet all that would need to be done is gently blow it off with compressed air unless their trying to say you need to replace it...then their full of it! Have them put it back together and get out quick!

Just picked it up. These guys are pretty trustworthy, so I woudlnt worry about them trying to trick me. He didnt even charge me anything.

But anyways, I left the shop and I drove to work. 1/2 mile. it was still raining. I parked it and took of the MAF sensor and there was small drops of water on it. Also some drops on the inside of the tube.

This has never happened to me before. Did I do something wrong on the install? Was I suppose to leave the OEM Splash guard in place.

Hmm...that is odd. Check any coupler connections, retighten the clamps on the couplers...and I would put the splash guard back on until you get the aftermarket one.

Friend of mine sold a brand new one to me for 10 bucks. I just assumed that was how much they cost. I kept my factory splash guard on after I installed my CAI. Little bit of water still flies in but with the hydroshield water wont get in your filter unless you basically submerge the entire thing underwater.

I'll bet it's more due to a bit of detonation getting into boost from the 87oct causing the ecu to pull some timing. If it was water getting to the maf you'd most likely get a cel immediately.

I tend to agree with Shane.. the car is meant to use 91 octane, and if you got into it a little bit (not saying wot, but into it) you would increase your likely hood of knocking due to predetenation. If you have to run 87 octane dont let your rpms go aboe 3k realisticlly and be easy on the gas.

Boost cut, maybe? Could have spiked past 18 for a fraction too long and hit boost cut...that's what it feels like - a sputter/cutout/misfire/etc.

Mine did this same kind of oddball thing this morning. I was in 6th at about 40, rolled onto the gas and the car shuddered and sputtered. When I let off the gas, I heard the chatter of compressor surge. Very odd stuff. Just out of the blue, never did it before.

93 octane Shell gas in the tank.

ya mine still does this i feel i need to be more conscious of it now even when just like FMOS said rolled onto the gas ...

When that happens, look in your rear view mirror to see if you're spitting out a lot of black smoke. It could just be running really rich at that moment...I had that happen at the track over the weekend.

I used to have a problem with my 300zx (greddy airinx air filter) where it would do something similar. turned out to be that there was so little restriction that the air flow would go laminar (super smooth) and the MAF couldn't read it. Simple solution was a strip of duct tape on the filter. Just enough to stir things up.

did it in 6th rolling onto the gas going up a small incline on the highway about 65-70. It was dark so I couldn't tell.

I seem to think I started to notice it after my COBB SRI but could just be me. Its also seeming to get more prominent whenever I get onto the gas in the higher gears and getting increasingly concerned.
